I recently picked up a well worn Canon 1d mark III APS-H body so I can use my Canon lenses with digital. Here are a few from a local car show with the 24-105 f/4L. |

Yes it's frustrating trying to support the local camera store and they have almost no selection to choose from. About strong ND filters, it's best to get a better one and spend the extra $$$. A cheap 8 or 10 stop ND is not going to block much infrared light-only visible light. Different digital cameras will react to the infrared pollution differently. I have Formatt Hitech Firecrest 10 stop ND filters in 58 and 77mm sizes. They're great-color cast is minimal on all of my cameras. B&H Photo has 8 or 10 stop Firecrests in 49mm size for 100usd. And the Firecrests are slim so there's less chance of vignetting on a wide angle lens. However, even though they're slim, you can put a lens cap on the front of them.

You have all of your favorite filters in every size-52, 55, 58, 62, 67, 72.......
You have lenses that you use so little you forgot you had them.
You drive everywhere because you can't bring that much camera gear on a plane.
You figure out how non photography gear can be used for photography.
You get on Facebook just so you can post your pics.
You get mad because it's a beautiful sunny day. "Today overcast lighting would be better light for what I want to photograph."
You watch a movie just because you found out there was a certain camera model used in it. I bought the "Under Fire" DVD because Nick Nolte used a Nikon F2 in the movie.
You're sick and tired of people saying "How many megapixels do you have? 18? Well, my phone has 25-doesn't that mean it's better?"

Nice IR shot Aquadome. I want to have my old Nikon D300 converted to IR but can't justify spending the $$$ right now. I have a Hoya R72 filter but can't get the color IR effects I want. However, the R72 is good for B&W conversions for B&W IR.

A few of my Russian watches. Some of these were taken with a tilt lens to get the whole dial in focus. ---------- Post added 09-19-15 at 11:34 PM ---------- Here's one of my Casio G Shocks with the reverse display. It's 8 years old and is beat up now-I took this when it was almost new. It's my daily beater. |

Glad you got a good one. I should have kept the black one I bought about 10 years ago. It looked good and worked fine. But about 2007 I thought I was done with film and sold all my film gear. That was a regret because the chrome FA I bought about 3 years ago was acting up and I sent it back. Someday I want to get another FA because it's an awesome body.

Thanks for the info about Nikon forums. I didn't know about the website. There's not much activity on it-is it fairly new?

Nikomat FTN. The meter works but it's crazy so I don't even bother to put a battery in it. |

A few years ago I bought an FA that did that. Something is wrong with it. I sent mine back for refund and I would do the same with yours. It's been said that the FA has such sophisticated electronics, and those electronics are getting old, so that's a recipe for trouble. Some shops won't work on them probably for that reason.

I bought a Sony A77ii last year and wasn't impressed with it. I used both of my Sony lenses, Nikon lenses with an adapter, and couldn't get the same level of sharpness out of it as I can get with my Nikons. Maybe because of the fact that the photo is taken through the mirror??? And many camera shops will not clean the mirror because of the fear of damage. I ended up selling the whole kit a few months after I bought it.

Even the Nikon f/1.8 lenses have insane prices except the 50 1.8 and 35 1.8DX.

Yesterday I attempted to load the 645 with film after not using it for about 6 months. When I pushed the shutter button, it tried to wind a little bit then clicked. I took the back out and attempted to fire the shutter and nothing. hen I decided to check the batteries-each AA registered 1.15 volts instead of 1.5 on the voltmeter. I put new batteries and it loaded the film like it should. What a relief! The batteries have only been in it about a year and 3 months.I need to remember that parts of the LCD stay active even when it's off and it still consumes battery power. Would it be better to remove the batteries when I'm not using it or just leave them in and replace about every 8 or 9 months?

Well that's interesting. More develop their own than don't. I thought it would be the other way around.
