Welcome! I had a lot of fun with manual lenses when I had a nex-6. Both the K and SMC Takumar 28/3.5s are great; I can't speak to the M.

It sounds you're thinking of a "depth of field preview" function, but those usually work the other way around: the camera keeps the lens wide open for easier focusing, automatically stops down when taking a picture, and allows manual stopping down to see what will actually be in focus.
The K1000 doesn't have such a button unfortunately: Pentax K1000 - Pentax Manual Focus Film SLRs - Pentax Camera Reviews and Specifications
(You might also be thinking of the Auto/Manual switches on many screwmount lenses, where you might choose an aperture, focus, then flip the switch to M to stop it down for metering.)

I love the MF version of this lens (same optics IIRC). A great find.

I grabbed it. As far as I can tell the body itself is in like new condition, just missing the original box, papers, etc.

My understanding: use the filters that make sense for the medium (sensor or film).

I use a rocket blower and a sensor loupe to see if I've gotten all the dust, something like this: Carson Camera Sensor Magnifier
If the rocket blower can't dislodge something I use a sensor swab or pen. I haven't needed that in a while though, usually the blower does the job. The loupe makes the whole thing go a lot faster, since I can aim at the right spot and quickly tell whether it worked.
The common next step up from a 55mm filter thread size is 58mm.

Sounds like a good find. What kind of cleaning are you thinking it needs?
I still enjoy my K200D, outdated doesn't have to mean bad.

I like having a compact like that with me to save some instances of fumbling around to switch lenses when I've been using a long lens on my main camera. Though to be honest the Panasonic 14-140 (II) and Sigma 18-300 (C) are good enough that for most vacations I'm not especially tempted by anything other than a prime.

In my experience this kind of trip is more forgiving for DR than one might expect. Many of the subjects are stationary and therefore allow for exposure bracketing, unlike sightseeing in a city. I did this kind of trip a few years back with a Panasonic G7 + 14-140 and was pretty happy with the results e.g. at Crater Lake or Lava Beds.
In your shoes I'd take my X100F or GR for "fun" photography. Maybe you want KP and your favorite prime as well?

I got this lens on a whim and I've found myself absolutely loving it. I thought 40mm on APS-C would be too tight but it's a pretty good fit for what my eye falls on while I'm walking around. Untitled by tonezime, on Flickr

Given the cost of the adapter and the fact that it contains additional glass, effectively functioning as a mild teleconverter, you may be better off finding a K100D. I've seen them go for $90-$100 on usedphotopro.com in the last few months.

Is that a screen protector on the LCD or are those scratches around the edges?

Apologies for how basic this sounds, but did you extend the lens first? I'm thinking if it has been a while since you used it you may have forgotten, since that's happened to me.

Then I suggest editing the original post to make that obvious.

If you mark it as sold, people will still be able to leave feedback. Just don't delete the thread or something.

You might want to update the first post and the price info. I didn't realize you'd lowered it to $200.

Taken between Ventura and Santa Cruz Island. We were on a ferry full of people and the idea of being on a boat by ourselves was pretty appealing at the moment. :) |
