I believe my best bet is picking up that cheap extension tube for now on ebay.
Looks like they all ship from china though.. oh well.

Can anyone recommend a decent and cheap, under $100 used (if that exists) macro lens for the k10D?

Having odd problems with my k10D that I have never encountered before. When I turn it on, the screen blinks with error 222 and it won't fire.. I recently put on a new lens on it, used it few times, and this morning it started giving me this hassle.
Has anyone else encountered this? Could the lens be causing it? I tried different settings, removing the lens, battery, card etc. but no help.
Sad. :(

I found the option in the control panel under "C" to permit the usage of the aperture
ring.

I am a bit bummed out at the moment having tried all of the variables in trying to get my 'new' 40mm SMC 'M' Pancake to work on my K10D. I have gone through all of the options suggested by the manual to no avail.
It looks like 'M Mode' is the only way this lens will function, but that wont work either. Is there something internal in the body or the lens that I need to hack?

Thanks for the help. Funny enough, the problem turned out to be my adapt-all. As soon as I removed it, the lens worked fine in manual mode.

I am trying to use those settings, and as far as I can tell, I'm doing something wrong.
1) Ive got the body on 'M' mode.
2) The upped LCD screen is displaying a flashing 'F--', and nothing seems to change this.
3) Green button 'kludge?' Is this a typo?

I was wondering if anyone has used a Tamron SP 500mm (the mirrored one) lens with the K10D with any success. I can use my other SP lenses if the lens has the AE option on the f stop ring.
If anybody has discovered a method to make this lens work, please let me know.

Many interesting lenses to consider there. I came across a discussion on this lens:
Voigtlander 125mm F2.5 Apo Lanthar
It seems to be very kick ass indeed. But do I need an adapter to use with K20D?
Seems these are quite rare to find on ebay..

Thanks guys! I am looking for a manual lens. The 50mm sounds about right but I would consider a macro as well. I used to use 210mm APO lens on my RZ for beauty and portrait work :)
So no experiences on those Carl Zeiss lenses then?

I just switched from film to digi (yes, another late bloomer). I use to shoot with Mamiya RZ and used APO lenses for beauty/portrait work.
I was wondering what would be considered the best, fixed focal length beauty lens for the K20D system? I was looking at the Carl Zeiss Planar T and Distagon lenses on ebay..they are quite pricy.
Is there any older manual Pentax lens that would do the job just as well? I am looking for maximum sharpness and DOF.
