Maybe nothing to do with beauty but just got this P&S and am having big fun with it.. Fuji F20,ISO 2000, very low natural light.. Used 2 sec self timer with camera sitting on top of drink glass..

My girlfriend took this one , also ISO 2000 , a little better lighting

K100D battery life

Have been using K10 for girls high school basketball along with a Takumar 135/2.5. Decided to try the K100 to see how much better it is in the low light.. Im very happy with the results at iso 800 & even the 1600 grain is better than the K10 at 800.. I know there are battery depleted issues with the K100 & it seems my battery life is low.. I shoot RAW & use alkalines and was able to just (had to turn off & back on a few times) fill a 2gb card on a new set of alkys ,192 images.. I had the instant review on & set at 3 sec.. I put in a new set ,turned off the instant review & was able to fill the card with no problem. How many shots can I expect with a set of good rechargables knowing my mileage with the alkys?? I like using the K100 but changing batteries at the game is a pain.. Thanks, wildherre

Soccer Mom

I have a friend that is a soccer mom & have been shooting a few games this year. I have been using my K10s , one with the Tamron 300/2.8 & the other with a Series1 200/3. I have gotten better at manual focusing but still have a lot of out of focus shots. I have been wanting to try a AF lens so I picked up a DA 50-200 to try.. I mounted it on my K100 & a monopod for it first outing . When I arrived at the game I saw my friend, the soccer mom & handed her the K100 which she had used once at a previous game with the 18-50.. She never got out of her lawn chair & was shooting into the sun but got some good shots.. I think I will be using the 20-200 next time..:D wildherre

Yeah, I did over do it a bit on that one .. Hows this? They were shot at about f8 or f11 both at 1/125th on a monopod..

Here is my poor boy set up
Zenitar 16/2.8
SMC M42 Takumar 50/1.4
Tamron SP 90.2.5
SMC M42 Takumar 135/2.5
Carl Zeiss Sonnar M42 135/3.5
Carl Zeiss Sonnar M42 200/2.8
Vivitar Series 1 200/3
Tamron SP 300/2.8
Tamron SP 400/4
The Tamrons have the dedicated 1.4X & 2X teleconverters

My Favorites & most fun to use are the 90 & the 300

If could only have one lens, probably the Tamron 90 or the Vivitar 200/3
I also have the 18-55 kit lens & Vivitar Series 1 105/2.5, SMC Takumars 135/3.5 & 200/4 but dont seem to ever use any of them.

Just turned over 5000 shots with the K10, maybe 50 of them were with autofocus..
Nothing on order, not waiting on anything.. :D wildherre

Its just how it turned out with the 400+2X .. I was in TV mode with shuuter at 1/500 for airplane shots. It wouldnt stop fluttering so it wings are blurred. Clicked all auto setting in Photoshop RAW with a little extra unsharp mask to sharpen up the wings.. wildherre

Nice pics.. I also have the SP 90/2.5 & a SP 300/2.8 , all great lenses . I would like to get a SP 180/2.5 but already have a bunch of good 200s. I really like my 300/2.8 .. Its in rough cosmetic shape & I dont feel too bad about beating it around a bit if necessary.. wildherre

On mine no adjusments are necessary when changing from 1.2 to 2.5 after the initial setup . Its just that what I thought was sharp at 1.2 may be off by a smidge which becomes apparent when viewed at 2.5. Hope this makes sense ..wildherre

This is how I do it. If anyone has a better method let me know..

Set the diopter on the Varimagni to the middle of its range.

With the Varimagni set on 1.2 adjust the diopter on the camera for the clearest view of the viewfinder lcd exposure info at the bottom of the viewfinder, not the viewfinder image.

Now focus the viewfinder image with the lens on an object with Varimani set on 1.2, then flip lever on Varimagni to 2.5 . Make a final adjusment with the Varimagni diopter if necessary, this should be very small if any at all. You should not have to adjust either diopter any further. I do my initial focusing at 1.2 so I can see the expoure info, then switch to 2.5 for the final fine focusing . wildherre

Just got my first monopod . It is a Bogen 3249-B . I dont have a head for it yet but have been thinkng of getting another Benro KS-2 like I use on the tripod. I just borrowed the KS-2 off of the tripod & grabbed a few shots with the 800 set up. I like it real well & will be getting another KS-2 for the monopod for the following reasons.

1. Compatibility . Having the same Arca Swiss type mounts on all camera bodies & lenses with mounts makes a bunch of sense to me.

2. Heft. Though the big ballhead may be bigger & heavier than what most would like, I wouldnt want anything smaller on my 300/2.8 & 400/4 lenses.. With the KS-2 locked down it very solid & doesnt flop.

3. Saftey Catch. I like the saftey catch on the Benro Arca type mounts. (Only Benro mount plates work with the saftey catch. If using a Arca , Kirk or or other Arca Swiss type mount, the saftey mechanism would have to be removed from the ballhead) The Feisol ballheads have a similiar saftey catch but dont know if they interchange with the Benro.

4. Extra Height. With the 3249 fully extended the setup is the perfect height for me (6'1").

Here is a monopod shot with the 800 setup, Tractor was on a road traveling at about 18-20 MPH.. Looks like the driver spotted me. :) wildherre

The tripod is an older Bogen 3036, ballhead is a Benro KS-2, the long lens support is a Bogen/Manfrotto 3252 .

Found a Tamron SP 400 that I have been looking for . It came with a 1.4X & 2X converter. I didnt have much hope for the 2X but am very happy with the results so far..
Here is a shot of our court house at 50mm , a poor shot but will give an idea of the distance..

Here is one with the 400 with the 2X

Here is a pic of the rig
