thanks, will look into that. my understanding is the 720 gives more a black/white look, picked the 665 because by the samples on the Kolari Vision site it gives the blue/white that i prefer. so we'll see, still working on it. you wouldn't regret having a camera converted, it is a whole new world and one has to learn to look at things differently! I've not done much in the past few years but looking to get back into it. i tend to prefer close work as compared to landscapes, but that is also what i do as an artist.

Got my K3 back today from being altered for IR at Kolari vision, I also recently had my K20 done there. For both we picked the filter that seemed to give the closest to what I was doing years ago with the altered K100 and then K10, the 665nm filter. Having problems getting a good white balance on the K3........anyone had a K3 altered? The K20 was a bit difficult to get a good white balance but husband seems to have managed to get close. This is what I did in the past, and yes, a few have been toned on purpose but more interested first in getting this K3 to let me get what I am used to getting. U see that many have used the 720nm filter........hoping I did not chose wrong with the 665nm?

Thank you both for the comments and nomination. Infrared is a lot of fun and requires seeing things very differently. You can see a few more here if interested: infrared Photo Gallery by karen clanin at pbase.com

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing

Item for Sale
For Sale or Trade: DA 16-45

LOWER PRICE.

Asking Price
$250

Item Description
i purchased this lens used, but in mint condition, last year, have only used it twice, still in mint condition.

the previous owner said this was an outstanding copy of this lens and it is, i also purchased the DA *16-50 so i could compare the two and decide which one to keep -- obviously i chose this 16/45 -- renders more color values than the 16/50 and is not as contrasty as the 16/50 -- i can ad contrast but difficult to take it out. most of you know the rep of this 16/45 lens.

looking for a FA 28mm 2.8 AL

lenses for IR converted bodies

since i have not used a number of the lenses we have listed as working with with the IR converted cameras i'd like to know your opinion of the IQ from these lenses. IQ equates first, to me, as sharpness. if it isn't sharp the rest doesn't matter......

of the lenses listed i have the FA 50mm 1.4 and 77mm. both of course are very sharp. my husband has the 50mm 1.4 and it is sharp. i personally prefer AF lenses to MF.

we all know that generally the 18/55 and 50/200 tend to be a little soft.

so what about the others below? thanks for your input.

kasey

DA 21
M 20 f4
FA 28mm,
FA 28-70mm f4
DA 35 Macro
DA 21mm
FA 28-200mm
Sigma 28mm f/2.8 (manual focus)

more interested in the 90-105mm range but information on any macro lens for IR would be of interest.

creampuff, which of the lenses not giving hot spots are giving you the best IQ?
