What a coincidence! His camera was also stuck in M mode. Makes me wonder if this is a firmware design: when the mode dial does not work properly, the camera is set to M so that the user can still use the camera normally.

Sorry for not describing the problem clearly!
The mode dial can be physically turned without any problem. But the mode displayed in the camera is always M even when the dial is at Av, Tv, U1, U2, etc. It happens with any every I have (20-40, 100f2.8, 50f1.8)
I don't understand the spraying solution because this is a sealed camera. How would the liquid reach the circuit part to clean it up?
Could be firmware bug. Does anyone know how to completely reset the camera? Because when I use the reset function in the menu, some settings like U1, U2,... are still there. So it does not wipe everything.

Problem:
My K3 suddenly stucked in M mode, no matter where the position of the mode dial is and which lens I'm using.
What I've tried:
1/ Reset the camera: not working!
2/ Take out the battery while the camera's on, then put it back: not working!
3/ Update the firmware: not able to update. I guess because my K3 already got the latest firmware.
4/ Clean the lens contact: not working!
Is there any other viable solution that you guys know? I don't want to send this to service because I'm going on vacation next week and photography is the reason of this vacation. I can shoot fine in M mode but there are User Settings that I really need in some circumstances.

Here is the one half stop scale:
1.0 - 1.2 - 1.4 - 1.7 - 2 - 2.4 - 2.8
and the one third stop scale:
1.0 - 1.1 - 1.2 - 1.4 - 1.6 - 1.8 - 2 - 2.2
1.9 is a strange number for an f-stop, isn't it? Why don't they make it 1.8?

I usually shoot video with evaluated metering, Bright custom image. Whereas in still mode the settings are center-weighted and Natural. Everytime I switch from still to video or vice versa, I have to adjust the settings, which is annoying.

A guy in Pentax Group Saigon - Vietnam just had a hands on experience. He confirmed that the autofocus is superior to K3, especially in low light.

Whenever my K3 previews an image, first it shows a jagged, low quality image for about 0.2 sec and then a full, high quality one.
This problem occurs clearly when I browse through images, each one needs 0.2 sec to fully loaded, which is irritating.:(
This is probably not because of my card (a fast Sandisk UHS-1). Because even when I remove the card and take photo, the instant preview behaves the same way.
Aside from this problem, every other function perform very fast.
Is this normal for a K3? My camera is manufactured recently - 2014/12 - and comes with 1.11
//I have turned off everything (High ISO NR, Shadow/Highlight correction, lens correction, AA filter). The problem is still there.

I am very new to Pentax and this forum. I just ordered a K3 and after that I read this. As far as I know, Pentax has provided a fix since last summer. Does that mean this issue is gone in latest batch?
