Misc New MF lens - A few pictures around the yard

Thank you :)

I agree... We don't have a big yard but it was full of inspiration with all of the colours... these were taken when we stepped outside while lunch was in the oven. It doesn't take much. I am enjoying this lens so much and want to be able to use it for portraits as much as I can... The great thing about a AF lens is that I can still just put it on MF and keep up the practice. It does take more patience but I love having the control.

Thank you, There is actually a fourth but lately each time I point the camera at her she does something like this:

I recieved my new lens last week and have been trying to get used to not only Manual Focus but I have also made a vow to myself to only use Manual mode instead of my loved TV and AV modes...
I am still having trouble transitioning from one scene to another while remembering to check everything but I am getting use to glancing down before doing a whole series...

Here are some shots around the yard today...

1.

2.

3. (My oldest)

4.(My second) Focus is a tiny bit off here...

5.(My third)

6.

Forcing myself to do everything manually is quite the task at times. I was finding my pictures were not meeting my expectations enough lately and realized that I was getting a bit lazy by letting the camera do things for me and then not being happy with the results. Going back to manual everything is like being in school again but I am having so much fun and things are clicking for me.

I didn't think that it was a black-chin because they are not found around here, but I was wondering why it looked so black. Thank you so much for the explanation!

yeah, sadly I don't have control of the sun yet... one day... one day... :p

I have to add, I just got the K-5 last week and I am loving how responsive it is! These were hand held with not the greatest lens and they turned out so much better then they would have with my K20. Love it!

Also two of my favourites along with his elongated swimming pose... I love the web feet and how we can see his muscle structure. They look all fat and lumpy when they are hanging out but they are so well built. He lives in the tiny lake in front of my mom's summer cabin and we see him all of the time... I asked my daughter if he wanted to kiss him but she just ran away shrieking...

It is a simple sugar water... it is a remote cabin in the woods though so it could be the reason they are always there... All you have to do is stand by the feeder for about a minute or two and they will start coming... there are 3 feeders in all but they love the two that you see in the pictures.

The kids and I had fun following this bullfrog around yesterday...

My son was even able to pet him and got bored before the frog did

He headed for a lilypad that he was way too heavy for...

then swam away...

and just floated instead...

Thanks to everyone who responded on the other thread... I was on the fence about upgrading from the K20D and you gave me the push I needed.

I picked up the K-5 on Friday evening and then shot with it at a Conference on Saturday. The best way to learn is to dive right in, right?!

Here are a few of my favourite shots from the day...

All were using ambient lighting with the K-5 and either the 50mm 1.4 or the 35mm 2.4

One of the Speakers..

Another of the speakers

and another...

Mother and daughter

Mother and son

I made mistakes and learned the camera throughout the day... though I still have tons to learn...

I am in love with how quiet the K-5 is compared to the K20D and how fast it is. I find that most of the buttons are placed intuitively which was a good thing because it was easy to dive right in for an event. I do have small hands so I found it a pleasure to hold.

I think I am going to have fun with this camera :)

I have a K20 that I have been loving for the last 4 years but I I find myself getting angry with speed and autofocus and I have a chance to get the K-5 at a good price... The thing is.. I do love my K20 and it is still an amazing camera for me so it could be just the thrill of getting something new... :o

Is it worth it? or should I just pick up a new lens instead :)

just to add... I do shoot a lot of low light and action... (I don't use flash and have kids)
