For Sale - Sold: Pentax FA 50mm F/1.7 *REDUCED...Again!*

Bump. This is a nice lens. At one point I owned this one and the FA 50 1.4. I always thought the FA 50 1.7 was a better performer in terms of sharpness and rendering above f 2.0.

I have the 77 & the 31, and I think the 77 is a better lens. You're right, it does put a smile on my face.

What are you asking for the 43 ltd?

This is a great lens and worth the price. I have a copy myself that I love. It's tack sharp with excellent contrast and color rendering. It rivals the IQ of the DA 40 ltd and easily beats my FA 28/2.8. Yes, I'm comparing it to primes. And yes, it more than holds it's own.

Cheers!

Just want to say I have this lens, and it's excellent. It has all the quality of a 2.8 prime with the convenience of a 28-60 zoom (excellent portrait focal lengths on a cropped sensor). It has much better IQ than the Pentax FA-28/2.8 which I also own.

Cheers!

Beck Lens...

Hey jocko_nc,

My lens looks the same as yours, albeit a little more dinged up. My Beck's filter thread has a small dent in it. The aperture ring feels a little too loose instead of "clicky" as I cycle through the f-stops. But I like the weight and feel of the aluminum body.

I got home after dark tonight, so I could only take indoor shots. I'm really interested in seeing how this thing does outdoors in sunlight where it was intended to be used.

Here's one taken on the K10D in M mode, metering using the green button. aperture: f4, shutter: 1/6 sec, ISO: 100, hand-held with shake reduction on.

The subject and composition are by no means god's gift to photography, just a baby monitor that made for a nice static subject. The shadow in the upper right is from the lamp shade, not vignetting.

Cheers!

Have you tried the Beck on a newer Pentax digital camera? I acquired a Beck 135/2.8 in a deal for a boxload of old manual focus K-mount lenses, and I'm dying to try the lens out on my K10D. The lens doesn't look like it has the pin that can cause a it to get stuck on the new digital bodies, but I'd be reassured if someone else has tried it first.
