the google translator is so crappy it's irritating. I'll stay with English.

le traducteur de Google est si merdique, c'est agaçant. Je vais rester avec l'anglais.

screwmount & in-focus indicator

I don't know why, perhaps I've read that somewhere, but I thought that you could not get focus confirmation with screwmount lenses, only with bayonet lenses. Well today I discovered that you can (MZ-5n and a Volna-9). Perhaps I was the only one who thought so.
I have yet to have the film developped to see how accurately focused the shots were though.

it's FA. I suppose it's suited for film since I think it was around before digital SLRs. Anyway, it sounds like a really good lens, but pricey.

Pentax 20-35mm

Hello,

Was this lens designed for film or digital? I'm shooting film only and I'm looking for something along this focal range (from really wide -almost fisyeye, even- to moderately wide). I found one (a brand new Pentax 20-35mm) but the seller wouldn't ship it because of some technicality. So I'm on the lookout for either the same lens or a similar one. But no digital. Manual focus and film.
BTW, the nomenclature in focal length designation differs whether the lens is intended for film or digital, why is that so? And why complicate things?

Thank you

It is said that that lens is not suitable for film SLRs, only digital. Would someone clarify this for me. If it's a no-no for film, then what would be a comparable lens, both in terms of range and quality?
Thanks

this genuine adapter can sure be found on the pentaxwebstore, but, frustratingly, they only ship to the US of A. They tell me they're an independent retailer. Sadly, they also seem to be the ONLY web-based Pentax retailer. Nothing can be bought off the company's site.
Like, what's up Pentax?

ok, thanks both of you.

You're right, Wheatfield, just moving my eye, and not the camera, a tad and the viewfinder's center stays bright.

another neophyte question

Hello,

So, I have this 28-80/3.5~4.5 Pentax A lens. The focusing circle at the center of the viewfinder is horizontally divided into two hemispheres and depending on the situation either one of these areas becomes partly or completely dark. I intuitively suspect that this signifies me that something ain't right, that I shall change my POV a tad in order to correct this. Am I right? Is this behaviour a common thing in all lenses? Cause I've noticed that with a 50mm/1.7 prime (used with a Minolta xg9) this does not happen.

Enlighten me on this, please.

Hi,

has anyone had any experience with that lens. How does it compare with others such as Katumar, Vivitar or Carl-Zeiss?

No reason, I just happen to be watching them both on the bay. I'm actually watching several Takumars, some are m42, some are k. Naturally, I'd rather pick the k mounts.
Is there a major aesthetic difference in terms of bokeh?

Helloooo,

Looking to fit a pentax 30n with a 135/3.5; either a Takumar (smc), or a Carl-Zeiss Jena (mc)

Is it a tossup or is one to be recommended over the other?

Thanks

Hi,

It seems that using a variable focal length lens (eg a 80-200mm or whatever) is more versatile than using a fixed one (eg 135mm); so, why use a fixed when all you need, when going outdoors to shoot, is a variable that will offer you more choices in both subject and composition. Am I totally wrong in making such an assertion? I'd like to know what rationale, other than compulsive lens buying syndrome, goes into choosing either a fixed or a variable focal length... or both.

Thanks

is there a great practical difference between a 'super' and 'super multi coated'?

I figured the Takumar was the best bet.
A screw fitting would require an adapter, right?

Hello,

I'm looking at 2 135mm f/3.5 lenses, one is a Takumar and the other is a Sigma (a lens aimed at Konica cameras, but if it's a bayonet mount then it should fit a Pentax P30, right?). Both are multi coated. Apparently, the 135/3.5 is a good lens. Has anybody had any experience, god or bad, with those?

Thank you

thanks both of you.
I gather the 28mm 3.5 is kind of hard to find. I'll be on the look out for both.

Say, a neophyte question (perhaps a tad off topic): if a lens is 3.5 (or 2.8), I understand we're talking f-stops here (do we?), but what does this indicate exactly?
I'm a total noob in terms of optics.

Hi ppl,

First post.
I just bought a P30n and I'm thinking of maybe looking for a (used) wide angle lens for it. The manual says the appropriate mount for the camera is KA. But I'd like some advice before I decide on anything. I must admit I'm a little confused about the variety of stuff that's available out there. So, what would be a good quality wa lens for this camera?

Thank you
