I'm not that active anymore in the forum due to work and family. It has been instrumental to my photography and I am still a supporter and a fan, not only off the site but of the community and its many great, patience, insightful, helpful, knowledgeable and friendly members. Let's keep it that way, don't lose the humor, politeness and healthy sarcasm. Thank you people for being great individuals and community which I am proud of to be a member.

Good you considered it, for event photography I find it to be snappier in focus performance and sharper beyond 100mm. Just shows how personal a lens can be. And again I find the 50-135 also a remarkable lens, can't really go wrong with it.

I have owned it, a very capable lens and enjoyed using it. Few months ago I switched to the Sigma 50-150mm F2.8 EX DC APO HSM II which I like even more. Only downside off this lens is no weather sealing. Apart from that a good contender for the 50-135, perhaps worth to look into.

Thank you. Did them all manual but still learning, so +1 on the metering if I understand correctly?
Is it better to do so by upping the iso or lessen shutter speed?

So here my first attempts on bird photography. Not the best off light, rainy with an overcast but at least hardly any other people around. Struggling with my settings, with and without the 1.4 TC and trying to find my way. I'm reading and watching a lot of tutorials but in the end only practice will make me understand. Used to the fight for light with macro this is a whole new challenging kind of photography. And one I honestly starting to enjoy. Open for all tips and pointers.

Thank you all for your comments and enlightening information, it made me decide to stick to APS-C. For Macro and wildlife is 90% off what I do. I did however take the DA* 300mm and will pare it with the 1.4 HD TC and now it's practice and more practice. Will post some results soon, wildlife and birds is a totaly difrent ballgame :) lot to learn.

You're right, maybe I'm just looking for a excuse to justify the step to K-1 and convince the sensible part of my brain :) As Macro and Tele is 90% off what I do. Just wished the K-3 had better ISO handling.

Hi there,

I'm thinking about buying my brothers K-1 (had posted it here bud turns out I'm not allowed to sell it for him and has been removed, no problem, rules are here for a reason). I'm extending my interest to bird and wildlife photography There will be off-course a loss off reach compared to my K-3. I'm currently experimenting with the DA* 300mm F4 and the HD 1.4 TC on my K-3 but this combination is vignetting big time on the K-1 (as expected). So I am looking for a TC (1.4 /1.7 /2.0) combination the will work well with this lens and the K-1. Does anyone off you have experience with a combination like that. Or advicefor a long good, sharp and reasonably priced long tele (zoom) lenzes (around the €1000 mark) up to 400mm or higher. Like to hear from you for it will help me in my decision to make the big step to the K-1 or wait, hope and pray for a great successor for the K-3 any time soon.
