I didn't think I'd miss it, but I miss my 10-20mm Sigma and am going to purchase the Pentax 14mm or 15mm prime, but would like input on benefits or downsides of either lens.
Thanks!

Kiss your wife and enjoy. I moved from the K10D to K7, and do lots of landscape. Thought I would hold on to the K10d for a year, but sold it 3 weeks after the K7 showed up and never looked back.

Ended up downloading Aperture 3 trial. Was hoping to spend money on Silver FX pro instead of Aperture, but at least now I have 29 days to try and sort Aperture 2 out.
Oh well, we'll see what happens.

I just downloaded the latest update from Apple, as it said that it now supported the my K7's PEF RAW files (thank you Apple). However when I opened Aperture, all of a sudden the DNG Raw files that I took a few weeks back in Germany give an error stating "Image Format Not Supported". These are images that I was able to edit last week, without any problem.
Has anyone else ran into this? Is there a fix?
thanks,
josh

Here's the first effort. Sun keeps coming in and out of clouds quicker than the 5 second exposure. Promising and fun so far, I'll try again this afternoon once the clouds clear, or stay steady.

At $45 I figured that I couldn't get hurt too bad. If there's still good sun after work, I'll give it a go then.

Hi All,
I just received my Skink Pinhole starter kit for my K7, and was wondering if any here had any experience, tips or settings?
I'll be giving it a go this weekend and will post some results.
thanks,
Josh

Just updated my K7, and looking forward to putting it through the paces later today.
Interested in what your findings other than the AF were.

Therion,
Thanks so much for the settings and feedback. I have the Hoya R72 filter that I've finally laid my hands on again, and will give some IR a try this week!
I'll post if anything turns out.

Frustrated, in that nothing came out well. I attribute that to lack of ir sensitivity on the k10.
Haven't had a chance to do any experimenting on the k7 yet. Maybe this weekend..............if I can find the filter.

Hi all, I had frustrating results with IR on the K10D. I just stepped up to the K7 and was wondering if anyone has had any success shooting IR with the K7? Settings?
Thanks,
Josh

I made the leap from the k10d to the k7, and am glad that I waited, instead of going to the k20.
So far I'm extremely happy with the pictures. My only gripe is that they significantly changed the button layout and menu system, which means I'm on the wrong side of a learning curve. Especially when I'm shooting multiple exposures for HDR processing later in Photomatix, it takes me a good deal of time to navigate through things. With the K10, I would not need to pull the camera down from my eye. Now it's a game of hunt and peck.
Hopefully I'll figure this out in a couple thousand pix!
Gotta say this seems to be one hell of a camera and no regrets at all in the purchase.:D

James,
Thanks for that. Exactly the kind of advice and perspective that I was looking for. BTW, I love the cottage photo on your blog!
It's as much a question of value as cost if that makes sense. I think that I'll grab the Sigma for now. I'm happier with the shots that I get with my Pentax 50mm f.4, than just about anything.
I just find myself backing up into people with it, and want to get something that will save peoples toes and still give me the results I crave.

The only film camera that I still have is a Nikon 6006, and it hasn't been powered since I got my k10d, so that is much less of an issue.
I plan on spending some time looking through flickr tonight and pulling the trigger on one of the 2 tomorrow so I'll have it in time for the TV on the Radio show later this week.

Thanks for all the input.
I have the Sigma 10-20mm and have no issues with the build or quality of that piece of glass. That being said I can't find anyone near Austin with the Sigma 30mm with the Pentax mount.
Don't know if this would influence anybody's opinion of how I should leap, but I currently have:
Hogamods Lens
Pentax 18-55mm kit
Pentax 50-200mm
Pentax 50mm f1.4
Sigma 10-20mm
Best,
Josh

I'm looking to fill out my primes and pick up one of these 2 lenses next for my k10d.
I was wondering if anyone had experience with both the lenses and could guide me. I'd be looking to use this for about 50% portrait, and 50% landscape.
All help appreciated.
Best regards,
Josh
