I have a new found respect for my 50mm 1.4
99% of the shots are at 800 iso, f 2.0 and under, and around 1/45.
K20D performed great in these low light conditions.

I shoot a lot of rock climbing indoors and out. There is always an abundance of chalk in the air and I change lenses a fair amount. Never had any problem cleaning the sensor.

My 10-17 has things moving around inside of it.
Not sure what it is but I don't think its normal and was not like this when I bought it.
Nayone have any favorite lens repair services?
Does Pentax offer these services?

Thanks aegisphan. I did your test and I think the results speak for themselves.
:( It looks soooo good when the focus is right!!!
What would you guys do in this situation. One of the main reasons I wanted this lens was for the weather sealing. I might just return it. I'm not sure if I'll be getting the k20d anytime soon.
Has anyone exchanged with B&H before? How did it go?

That was on a tripod at 45 degrees more or less. The corners seemed ok. I'll go try some flat object shots.
The K20d has the bf/ff adjustments right?

Yeah that was my first thought after posting that. SDM works now.
Here are the pictures from the test. They are all labeled with the focal length and apeture.
50mm: everything looks good
28mm: not as much back focus as 16mm but still apparent
21mm: not as much back focus as 16mm but still apparent
16mm: lots of back foucs from 5.6 down
So there it is...
What do you guys think :\
Is it the general consensus that this lens works well on the K20d?

I just bought this lens from the B&H store in NYC.
I'm going on a climbing trip in a couple days and would like to decide if I need to send it back by then.
What is everyone doing to test their lens? Specifically the bf/ff issue.

It has come to my attention that flickr applies corrections to images uploaded now... I am not a fan of this.
I see some of you have pbase and the rest have smug mug. What are your thoughts on each?

I threw the Energizer lithium CRV3's in my old K100d and got about 1300 shots out of them. I used the flash almost never and the LCD lots. I'd say about 70% jpg the rest RAW.

Hey all!
My names Alex. I'm 21 and recently have gotten into more than just point and shoot photography.
I'm a student at RIT in upstate NY where I'm surrounded by all these photo majors who worship canon and nikon.
My major is Networking, Security and Systems Administration. I hope to graduate this coming winter and will either find a job in my major field or enlist in the service.
