Thanks for the PM alert, but March is really bad for me. 5 birthday parties and 2 anniversaries. Keep me posted for the next one!
One lens suggestion - 12-24 is my first choice, 16-50 DA* next then the kit 18-55.

Reading the posts above, if you have a 50mm already, then go with the 35. My own past experience - I have two 50mm's and prefer them over my own 28/3.5 and a 28/2.8, which I borrow from time to time. I also have a 35-70/2.8-3.5 and still find myself zooming into the 50mm focal length. Comparing apples to oranges, yes, but I seem to like tighter shots when the situation calls for it.

Got your PM. For location, maybe we can try one of the pubs/bars along King St. between Bathurst and Spadina?
I have a shoot on the 15th and the 23rd...otherwise, my schedule is open for now.

Your findings were pretty much in line with mine. Fast lenses help a ton, but AF is a tad slow when the lighting was poor. In those situations, I often found that using MF is quicker, but you really have to rely on the viewfinder to ensure the focus is tack on. Having a split prism may help in that department.
But you got some really good shots there! Now I know what lenses I should have put in my bag - LOL!

Hey Scott,
I own 2 x K100D bodies and served as a second shooter in weddings for 3 seasons. I ended up purchasing a Nikon D200 so that I can use the primary shooter's lenses. I still love my Pentax cams though - the fisheye is a real treat!
Back to point. Taking from my experience and if posed with the question to buy another Pentax body I'd easily go with a K10D over a K200D.
- The picture quality on both cams (comparing the K10 with the K200) are similar since they are using the same sensor (10.2 MP). Used K10's are a bargain!
- You can use the same batteries and grip if and when you upgrade to the K20D (which is a body I heavily considered before jumping for the Nikon).
- Larger buffer and higher fps rate in the K10D (3.1 fps/10 shots RAW - K10 vs 2.7 fps/4 shots RAW - K200)
- 2 dials on K10 - I was fast with one dial but after using 2 dials on my Nikon, I know what I was missing!
- Slightly brighter viewfinder.
At this point, the only thing going for the K200D is the AA batteries. Situation - If your flash runs on AA and your cam batteries go low. Just flip the flash batteries into the cam and off you go! Just bump the ISO to 400 (or 800 if you don't mind the noise) and it's great with my 50/1.7!

Looks good to me! I like how you've tried to keep it looking real as well.
Unfortunately you are right - you do have dust spots. Hopefully you should be able to get them off by getting a giottos or peachtree air blower. Don't use compressed air!

Just voted. Pentax has healthy margin over Sony. (39.8% vs. Sony at 28.6%) Very nice!

How often do you fill your card to capacity then transfer the entire contents (using a card reader) to your PC? If you don't mind the wait while transferring the data, the Ultra II will do fine for you.
I'm using my K100D and a couple of Transcend 2GB cards, rated at 150x. I also have a Kingston 1GB which I think is rated at 66x, and an OCZ branded 2GB 150x card. IIRC, The Sandisk Ultra II is 80x. I haven't used the Ultra II's but they should be a good choice. The only time you'll feel a difference is when copying your pictures from the card to your PC because 80x will be slightly slower.
You may or may not notice a difference while shooting in burst, where the transfer rate comes into play.
Hope that helps.

Well, it looks like my son finally decided to stick with his first choice of Pebbles. He mentioned that she looks like one when she lies down in a bundle.
We discovered that she is a bit mischevous when no one is around...we have two dogs now: Yuki and Pebbles. Pebbles is stealing from the Yuki's dog's dish and she even steals Yuki's toys while Yuki watches. At least Yuki is getting used to the split attention.
Here's a shot of the two dogs together.

...for this little gift that I got my son? It's a girl - a bichon/schnauzer mix. So far my son is thinking of "Pebbles" but isn't quite settled on that name yet.
Enjoy!!

Did you get that lens from a Henry's??? I missed out! LOL!
You guys are talking about LBA too much! I pass a Black's, Henry's and soon to open Vistek (not to mention the FutureShop and Best Buy) every single day on my way to and from work. Just like Salty, I wish I had blinders.
Fortunately, I walked away from dropping $900 plus taxes on a K10D, grip and extra battery. My other option, the 50-135 for just a measly $150 more, using my plastic. LOL!! Waiting for something better...that's how I've kept myself from spending so far.

Do you like barrel distortion at the wide end? The reason I ask is because the Sigma does have significant barrel at 10-12, though not near as much as the Pentax/Tokina Fisheye.
Personally, I find my fisheye a challenging, yet fun and rewarding, lens to use. I would like to get myself a 12-24 in the near future since I still prefer shots with less distortion at that wide end.

After seeing the conversion, I am agreeing too - the shot was screaming to be converted to a b&w. Nice work!

I like the reflection in the window too, but I know your intent was on the bikes. Perhaps a slightly tighter crop?
