There are camera specific plates which usually fit a range of cameras. They typically have a front lip that prevents rotation. I have a K-3 specific plate. Even when a part number exists for a manufacturer, these are now pretty difficult to find in stock . You probably need to find a universal one that does not have a lip and will otherwise fit.

My wife and I were on a boat bobbing off the coast of the Big Island of Hawaii watching lava flow in to the ocean and seeing the creation of new land. A big wave back splashed us
and got us quite wet. My wife's camera bit the dust and all the pictures on her card were toast. But I continued snapping away as if nothing happened.

I rock focus back and forth using focus confirmation as a hint, and use focus peaking with my o-me53 viewfinder magnifier to set focus.

I use to say my DFA 70-200 was a heavy son-of-a-gun until I started using my new-to-me Sigma 300mm f/2.8. I often shoot all day with my DFA 70-200 and never again will I complain about the weight.

United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, Washington DC. I took my K1 m2 and this lens only on my recent travels to DC, NYC, and Portland.

Isn't electronic shutter on the K-1 only for single shot live view where the trailing curtain is mechanical?

I think you can continue to use Photos.
As others have pointed out you can use Photos and 3rd party tools to edit if you wish using Photos' edit "Edit With..." option or using Photos plugins from 3rd party tools such as " Pixelmator Pro" and others.
When you import your DNG+JPEGS or other originals you can choose to copy them to the Photos library or keep them where ever you have them stored. If you want to use iCloud photos you need to copy them to the Photos library. Using iCloud photo stream you should have most of the photos from you iPhone on your mac in Photos.
Photos is non-destructive so whenever you edit a photo, you will always have your untouched original plus the latest modified version. I believe you can use multiple tools to make your edits. I use ON1 and save my edits using PSD files. After editing using ON1, I can continue editing using the built-in Photos tools. At any time I can click the reset button and get back to the original.

All artist lose control of their art when other people view it. Nobody can control what emotions a piece of art evokes in others. Sometimes it is helpful if the producer explains his creation, sometimes not. Sometimes it is helpful if critics explain their interpretations, sometimes not. Sometimes it is helpful if an expert explains what technically was done to evoke a certain emotion, sometimes not. We may never really know why he drove his chevy to the levee and it was dry, and in this case the artist isn't interested in telling.

f/2.8 or f/22 because usually there is either not enough light or too much light and not the right filters for the shutter speed/iso I want.

Select a pef raw file and "Get Info" (File->Get Info or command-I). Look for "Open With:" and select the application you want to use. Click the "Change All" button if you want to open all pef raw files using the chosen application.

At the top of the get info dialog, you can select the icon. If it is a custom icon you can delete it and the default icon should appear.

Apple's iCloud for Photos is really good for many users but incredibly infuriating when something is broken. The advantage of using iCloud is for instance on your Mac where you have plenty of disk space, you have all your DNG's and when you edit the photos you nondestructively edit using the DNG and create a new jpg. On your iPad or iPhone, you might not have enough space for the DNG's so there you only have the jpg's. But when you try to edit on the iPad or iPhone, Photos downloads the DNG and again you edit using the DNG creating a new jpg. The edited jpg is synced to all your devices and when you need to free up space on the mobile device, the DNG is removed. The same process also occurs on the Mac when the option to "Optimize Mac Storage" is active.

I have quickly read through this thread but sorry if I have missed something.
I do use a Mac and other things Apple, but only use iCloud "My Photo Stream" in Photos. It is unlikely I will do so, but just in case I do decide to add more of my files to Photos and turn on all the iCloud options, can you verify:
You have Photos set to import by copying the files?
You are saving DNG or DNG + jpeg? If DNG + jpeg you have chosen the DNG or the jpeg as the original?
You have "Optimize Mac Storage" turned on?

Not sure, but when you have 2 cards in, both are mounted but only 1 is visible. When you eject the visible card, the other card is still mounted and you will get the warning. If you are doing 1 card at a time, I don't think you should see the warning.

I believe if you unmount both, then mount the one you want, you can use one at a time. I can't get it where both are mounted and useable.

This appears to be a bug in Ventura. For whatever reason the mac only mounts 1 of the slots correctly. Both slots are mounted but the second slot is mounted with "owners enabled" and the mount cannot be seen in the Finder. You can muck around in Disk Utility and get the second slot to show up, but it is not worth the effort. I also had issues where both slots did not unmount correctly and when I turned off the camera, the mac gave me a notification that the drive was not unmounted correctly. In one case I had to reformat both cards in camera before I could use them again.

I have protection filters on all my lenses. I always remove them when I attach any other filter(s).

I got the M1 Max with 10 core cpu, 32 core gpu, 64GB of ram and 1TB ssd.
I only got the 32 core gpu because B&H had it for $100 off which cut the increase from the base model in half. I got 64GB of ram only because my iMac has 40GB and I couldn't have less whether I need it or not. As expected everything runs faster but is not necessarily noticeable (my iMac is the 4Ghz i9 model). I do notice a speed increase when editing my K1 dng's using ON1.
Since nothing is upgradable, I wouldn't do anything differently. I am happy to finally be able to separate the display from the computer and I am pretty sure the Studio Display will be in service for a long time. Currently my second display is my old Apple LED Cinema Display.

I just recently replaced my 2019 5K iMac with a mac studio and studio display. I considered a 27in or larger 2K but I decided even if I might not need it, I wanted better than %99 srgb. I considered a 4K display with similar color and uniformity as the studio display. While I would save some money and I don't really need the studio display's fancy web cam, triple mic array, 6 speakers with spatial audio, and extra brightness, I do spend most of my time looking at text and the 5K when scaled to 2560X1440 will display crisper text than a 4k and I don't want to use a 4k scaled to 1920. Since a few hundred dollars spread over many years of use is not a lot and B&H has a $100 discount, I splurged.

Not really pertinent to this thread, but my DA* 55 works differently than my 24-70. With the 55, the camera does not go in to MF mode -- the focus lock indicator stays on and in continuous AF mode, the camera refocuses after I move the focus ring. The shutter does fire.
