No samples yet, but members of the press seemed very excited when we briefed them on the camera. The 645Z should offer shallower depth of field and more dynamic range than cameras with smaller sensors.

The 645D will remain in the line-up as a lower cost option.
-From the official Q&A-
"Even though the 645D and 645Z products' appearances are similar, their features, including a faster operational response in the 645Z, are quite different. That's why we gave the new camera a name other than 645D. Generally speaking, "Z" implies the "ultimate." Since the new product boasts the highest image quality in the PENTAX digital SLR lineup, we decided to add the letter "Z" to the system description "645."

There will be an image transfer software option. We will have more specifications as we get closer to shipping of the product in June.

The 645Z will be available through our retail partners nationwide as well as on the web store. We have been talking to them about this camera for several weeks and there is a lot of excitement at retail.

We are absolutely making a huge push with medium format. There is a tremendous opportunity for Ricoh Imaging due to the specifications and the price of the 645Z.

As far as we know, it cannot. It is a matter of processing power and file size. To achieve full 4K video the image processor would need to be changed.

All,
Long time since I have posted here. I wanted to clear up some confusion. The way the specifications were originally posted to the Ricoh Imaging website it may have given the impression that the formats listed where it mentioned RAW was for video. These were actually the still image formats. This has been corrected on the website to be more clear.
Still a pretty great camera though:)!

PENTAX in the U.S. will be having a hands-on tour with the brand new K-30 where you can learn about the features of the K-30. Demo cameras including the K-30, Q, K-01 and 645D will be at each event as well as a selection of lenses. An Optio WG-2 will be given away at each tour stop as well as a special offer on the K-30. The submission process and voting were brought down due to some database issues. Anything we did to fix them would be a temporary bandaid. Instead, we took the opportunity to totally update the site and move away from a flash interface. At the same time we are adding some new features (like commenting and image rating on the front end) and increase the load speed across the board.

I don't think anytime soon. Something most people don't necessarily consider is the purchasing habits in different culture. In Japan, a customer would never dream of returning a product after they committed to purchasing it. If they order a pink and yellow camera, and they didn't like it after it arrived, they would stick with their decision. U.S. customers tend to return product for everything from real to perceived defects, to buyers remorse. That would leave Pentax or dealers with a bunch of odd colored cameras that people decided to return.

I think you are jumping to conclusions. We never said to contact CRIS directly for Pentax repairs. We are simply partnering with them to provide the repairs. If you need Pentax support, you still contact Pentax.
