Hi,
The highlights in your picture seem to be a bit overexposed. Have you tried with a lower overexposure and with a good UV filter on the lens ?

Hi,
I use circular polarizers, but only because they are much more easier to find here in France ... A linear polarizer would do the job for me, since i use my K10D in MF mode even with my Limiteds ...
My current brands are B+W (52 and 58mm) and Marumi (49mm) ...

Well, besides the kit 18-55, my K10D enjoys an FA-31 and an FA-43, when wearing new glass ...
When going "vintage", the camera wears a P/K 28/3.5, a P/K 85/1.8, a P/K 105/2.8, a P/K 135/2.5, a Steinheil 135/2.8, a Kiron 105/2.8 Macro, an Angenieux 35/2.5, and some other M42 or P/K lenses ...

Hi,
My contribution (and probably, the only one before a long time: the lens used here wasn't mine), two samples with a Nikkor 50 f/1.2 on my K10D through an adapter ring (no infinity focus, but really fine close focus lens):
Both at f/1.2, straight from the raw files without PP.

Hi,
I use a B+W MRC polarizer (the "normal" version, not the slim one) with my FA-31, and never had vignetting issues ... In fact, it is not really easily unscrewed from the lens because of the hood, nevertheless it doesn't require a lot of time or special tools to remove (but it is better if you don't wear gloves while trying to unscrew it) ...
If you are looking for brand names, the best filters i have used are B+W, Hoya Pro, Cokin and Marumi WPC. Avoid Heliopan polarizers, i got some ghost images using them under some lighning conditions ...
Hope this helps.
Cheers

Well, Leica M39 lenses have a register distance of 28.8mm only, so, whatever the mount adapter, they will never be able to focus to infinity on a Pentax DSLR ... That's why they are so cheap ...
The lenses that may be converted are the Leica R ones, but they require another budget, too ...
Nevertheless, a Leitz 90 or 135 in M39 mount is a nice macro lens to play with ...

Hi,
Thanks for spending your time for such a long review and sharing your impressions (although my doctor said that such kind of readings really doesn't help my LBA) ...
Nevertheless, i would have liked a link to the full size images, to drool a bit more on such a lens (i use a K135/2.5 but, after reading your test, i'm considering start saving for an A* tele) ...
About the PF in the first crop, i've read somewhere (a thread on this forum, if i remember well) that it is caused by the high contrast of some lenses in high contrast scenes or when overexposing (this seems to be the case with the lights reflections in the orb over the lens of the pictured camera) ... And the lens is not the only cause of this, the micro-lenses of the camera sensor play their role, too  (i have the same issue on my FA-31, too) ...
Thanks again for your review
Cheers

Hi ducdao,
I have the same lens as yours on my K10D. I just used a generic M39-to-M42 adapter: although the Leica thread is 26tpi instead of the 1mm of the "classic" M39 thread, the build tolerances of both the lens mount and the adapter voids the differences.
As already said, you will not be able to focus to infinity because of the shorter register distance of the Leica M lenses (28.8mm vs. 45.5mm for P/K), you will not even be able to focus to a few meters, but you will have a really nice 90mm macro lens, perfectly usable even wide open, focusing up to about 30cm ...
Just take care to get an hood for it (strongly recommended, i don't think that such a lenses has an MC protection) ...
Enjoy your "new" toy ;) ...

Hi,

Hi,
Grabbed two weeks ago a Fujinon 55/3.5 Macro, a Fujinon 28/3.5 and a Tamron 135/2.5 with an O/M mount for 40 euros ...
Otherwise, from last month buy, a Kiron 105/2.8 PK/A for 160 euros and a new "old stock" Pentax-K 135/2.5 (the 6 elements one) at 160 euros too ...
Now, i'm waiting for the holidays to have more fun with these lenses ...

Hi,
This picture has been taken with a Pentax-K 85/1.8 with an additional extension tube, to reach a shorter focusing distance:
But, of course, what i neglect to say is that this is one from a 9-shots series  (luckily, digital film is cheap) ...
I try to get the picture i like by taking more pics with different settings, then i choose the one i prefer (which is not necessarily the best one technically speaking), but i try to avoid PP (especially because i'm really really far from being a Photoshop guru) ...

Hi,
Well, if in 2012 i will need AF, my choice would be the FA-31 (my best AF lens).
But, if i will still be able to MF, then i would get one of my preferred P/K (85/1.8, 105/2.8, 135/2.5), for their sharpness and bokeh ...
Now, i only guess to reach 2012 still having the strength to bring my "usual" backpack with me (with a 28/2.8, 50/1.4, 85/1.8, 105/2.8, 135/2.5, 200/4 and a Kiron 105/2.8, the FA-31 being on the camera body) ;-) ...

Hi,
I have both the 43 and the 31.
The 31 is great as a walkaround lens, with the crop factor it behaves like a 46mm on a FF camera, and f/1.8 is great for low-light shots (use it mostly at concerts) ... This lens has replaced my SMC Takumar 35/2 on my camera, now ...
The 43 is fine for spotting planes (my work office is at about 50m - 150ft - from the Toulouse airport runways, and the FA-43 is the longest focal length that allow for a full A380 picture) ...
What i like in my Limiteds wrt my other lenses (whether Pentax or other brands) is the rendering of colors, especially the reds, and the easyness of MF, even with the FA-31 ...
