Tamron (Pentax Mount) AF 18-200 f/3.5-6.3 Macro Zoom.

Asking Price
$175 (Firm)

Item Location

Item Description
This lens is in excellent condition - with NO scratches, or marring of any kind. The only reason I could not apply a 'Mint' condition to it is because of not having the box, and manual (I did, however, just happened to find the receipt & 6yr warranty slip - dated 12/29/06). It is a Very nice lens, that I was quite happy with. But I have just sold most of my Pentax kit, and no longer have a need for it.

Here is a photo of the lens:

Item for Sale
Pentax K10D w/Battery Grip & Extras.

Asking Price
425

Item Location
Amherst, NY/USA

Item Description
Again, this K10D is in EXCELLENT condition, and hadn't really been used that much (the current shutter-click count is just 9639). The following items are included with this camera:
.................................................................................................
1). Delkin LCD flip-out shade cover.
2). Additional Battery
3). 4GB Extreme III SD card, and another 2GB PNY SD Card.
4). Wireless Remote Shutter Release Unit.
5). K10D DVD JumpStart Video Guide.
.................................................................................................

This is a great camera that I have had no qualms with. I don't need three camera bodies, and was holding on to this for one of our daughter's interest in photography. But she is involved in a number of other things, and don't really have the time to give to another interest. And this is the ONLY reason why I am selling it.

K10D Firmware Upgrade Question.

It's been a mighty good while since I have picked up my daughter's camera (K10D), but I am beginning to realize the value of its lightweight design (compared to my Nikon D300 & D3) for my just casual out-and-about shooting concerns. I am interested in upgrading to the current firmware available, and see that a 16MB card is suggested for this. My other DSLR's use CF cards, whilst the K10D (as you know) requires SD cards. The one in the K10D is of 4MB capacity - which is more than adequate for my shooting needs with it. I cannot see shelling out for a 16MB sized SD card, solely for the purpose of obtaining the firmware upgrade, and wondered if anyone had been successful with upgrading the firmware via a smaller capacity card.

Advanced thanks.

Lightroom Problem Again.

Hi again, Blue.

I went into my Firewall, and learned that Lightroom was not accepted for allowance (although I don't know how that 'just' happened). So, I went in and 'added' it as an exception to the fire-walling. It turns out, however, that this effort brought about no change at all. Lightroom opens, now, with notification that there are two available updates (1.3 & 1.3.1) for it, but every time that I click for the updating (or attempt to get "Help") I am faced with the error message that was attached in my initial post.

The only thing that I have done differently, was to very recently install Adobe Photoshop Elements (v5) which came bundled with a 'Pen Tablet' that I bought. I just hope that I don't have to format my PC again (had to do it behind an earlier problem with Lightroom), to try and get it working as right as it should.

By the way, the error message that I get - when I try to get "Help" - is a different one, and maybe this one will shed some pertinent information as to what this 'technological illness' is all about.

Thanks Blue,

I believe that there is one (Firewall) on my system. I will have to play around with it to0 see how to go about configuring it for the passage of this program. What has me stunned, though, is that it was working just fine, up until yesterday (though I did have some much earlier issues with it), and now it has just fallen down on me.

I attempted to browse through Lightroom's 'Help' files, and (on each attempt) I keep getting the included error message. I thought that uninstalling/reinstalling the program might change things, for me, but it does not. I did have the latest version of the program, but now I can't even upgrade beyond the base (1.0) version. Does anyone have any idea as to why this is happening?

I will always keep my 50/1.4, but which two additional lens would you suggest I look at? I am into landscapes, low-light shooting & doing, maybe, some portraitures. If you were in my shoes, which 'very high quality glass' lens would you consider?

SD/HC Memory Card Question.

I recently purchased a SanDisk SD/HC ExtremeIII card, and have found that this card cannot be read in my computer's card reader unless it is first inserted into its accompanying MicroMate USB adapter - and then inserting the latter into one of my computer's USB ports.
Taking the card directly into the respective reader-slot, on my computer, causes my PC to freeze up. But just removing the card brings everything back to normal. Now, I had initially thought that the MicroMate adapter was provided for giving one the ability to transfer the card's data into a PC, that might not have had such a reader built-in, but that the card could be read on its own in a reader. All of my other SD cards function in the PC's reader without a problem. Should this be happening? I'd hate to think that losing (though I hope I don't) this MicroMate adapter would translate into my card being unusable - until such time as I could get my hands on another adapter. And I have no idea what one would cost if I had to purchase one separately.

Lowell,

I think that I am going to hold off on the D300, and see what the K20D has to offer in 'real world' applications. If it stands true to all that is hyped about it, I will definitely get it. I didn't want to have just the one camera, and - with the K20D - I'd be in the position to share lenses, flash unit & other accessories (such as my battery grip, which is a 'must-have, for me). I would still be able to get some really nice glass for this pairing, and (quite possibly) be able to achieve just what I want.

Thanks.

Delete vs. Format

That had been exactly, what I thought also. If it's just a few photos that I snapped off - and decide to do away with - I'll perform a "Delete All" procedure. For the most part, however, I "Format" the card - and I always format within the camera itself ('heard it was better to format it like that).

Oh...by the way (and in total agreement with Paul), There was absolutely nothing stupid about what you asked.

Money for more camera gear.

By this weekend, I will be in the financial position to get myself some more photographic gear. My K10D has served me well, except for the fact that it falls short of the capabilities I'd really desire for nighttime & other low-lighting conditions, without my having to always haul a tripod around. I am keeping my K10D, but am considering purchasing another camera - and the one I am leaning toward is The Nikon D300. Research, and other given information, has revealed that this particular camera is awesome in its low-light handling. The K20D isn't out yet (as far as I could find), but I have tried to gain as much information on it, as I could; particularly within the area of my mentioned 'low-lighting' concern. Sadly, there wasn't much to help me.

I don't feed into that Nikon/Canon - "If it ain't one of us..." - foolishness, and I really wish that my beloved K10D was much stronger in the area where it is weak. But I, apparently, had to look elsewhere, and the D300 seemed to be the best option in my price range.

If the K20D was to have the 'strength' I desire, I would just wait until it was available - and buy it. At least, then, I'd have two bodies that could share the same stable (when acquired) of lens. I only have two rather inexpensive lenses for my K10D, so it isn't like I presently have a real investment in lenses. I had even considered purchasing the absolute fastest-cut-of-glass that could be had, for the K10D, but even that wouldn't hold a candle to the D300 being outfitted with proper glass.

If it's OK to ask this here - what, honestly, would you do if you were in my shoes?

An Extreme III SD card question.

Thanks.

The 'Burst Shootings' that I had done, were in Jpeg mode. Maybe there will be a much more noticeable realization of speed when I try again in Raw mode. I didn't mean to sound like a 'belly-acher' about this, but just didn't see the improvements that so many had praised about - when speaking on this card. Maybe once I really get into some deeper/different shooting types, I will then see enough to feel the heftier cost expenditure, for this card, to be well warranted. If not...oh well, I have it now - and will put it to the best use that I can :).

An Extreme III SD card question.

Yesterday, I somehow lost a $30 PNY 4GB SD/HC card, almost immediately after purchasing it from BJ's. I was so torn up about it (I hate to lose anything) that my wife told me to go out and get myself another card - and that I could get any card I wanted. So, I wound up getting myself the $100 Sandisk Extreme III 4GB SD/HC card - and didn't lose this one :). I couldn't WAIT to get that card in my K10D, and was somewhat disappointed in what I found. I had been hearing as to how much faster the Extreme III's were, and even the salesperson kept saying how I was going to be 'blown away' by the speed of that card. In all honesty, though, I have yet to see what he, and everyone else, had been talking about. Shutter response, writing, burst shots - the whole shebang - was supposed to be faster; some, even considerably so. I did seem to notice that there was quicker action with the burst shots, but that was mainly it. Everything else moved at about the same rate as when I used my previous PNY 2GB SD card. Not being a frequent player on the 'Burst Shooting' field, I'd have to say that the one plus, with the Extreme III, is the ability to capture & store about twice the numbers of photos. But that's not a big thing (especially with the $70 difference) because any of the cheaper 4GB cards will also hold just about the same number of photos. I wonder, now, if maybe I happen to have a 'bad' card. Does anyone think that this could be the case?

These are some very nice shots. I like shots 3 & 4 the best, with the third one being the winner of the two.

JC,

This is to inform you that I just went there - no more than ten minutes ago, and successfully signed up for another account with them (I had used their services early last year). I had no problems, whatsoever, in signing on with them. As Xixco had suggested, I would look into your 'Spam' folder.
