Apologies this isn't relevant to the listing, but is that Oreo body cap something you 3D printed or can you buy those online somewhere?

I mostly enjoyed the moment, but I did get a few shots during it.
Shortly before totality
During totality
After totality
I did get a shot of the eclipse itself for good measure too, of course. |

I'm curious on this too. I currently have a ball head that I often find frustrating to get precise adjustments with and I'm not sure how much of that would be solved by getting a nicer ball head and how much of it is inherent to being a ball head.
The times I use a tripod I'm generally looking more for precision over speed of adjustment so I'd probably benefit from a nice pan and tilt or a gear head.

I actually tested this a couple days ago on my K-1. The writing slows down significantly when writing to both cards so it seems like it either writes to them sequentially or at half rate. The light blinks twice, so I suspect it's writing to one card then the other.

The DOF preview is activated by pushing the self timer lever toward the lens mount. This is not obvious when the camera doesn't come with a manual :-)
Check the condition of the light seals, and especially the mirror bumper before using. They are easy enough to replace yourself, but if the mirror bumper is bad little chunks of it will flake off and get everywhere if you use the camera without replacing it.

I recently upgraded my 25" 1440P Dell U2515H to 27" Dell U2724D. I was quickly annoyed by the slight drop in pixel density, but got used to if after a bit. They are great displays in every other respect.
If 5k 27" (or even 4k) displays were available at a reasonable price and similar features to my U2724D(E) I would buy those.

AF: slightly better on k5iis
Buffer: Not really relevant to how I shoot, but better on k5iis
IQ: The lack of an AA filter gives slightly sharper images, but is also more prone to aliasing. DR is higher on the k5iis, but I don't really notice that in most situations. Overall the difference between them is small.
Ergonomics: Obviously personal preference but I much prefer the k5iis.
Video: slightly better on the k50.
Live view: slightly better on the k50.
Shutter/mirror noise: Much nicer on the k5iis
I definitely prefer the k5iis of the two, however as others have mentioned something more modern that can take KAF4 might be worth looking at.
I'd personally look at the higher end models (k5, k3) just for the ergonomics and quieter shutter, but I'm not sure I'd recommend replacing a k50 with a k5iis unless you find a good deal on one (even though I did exactly that and don't regret it).

Unless I'm mistaken the MX will work through the full range of shutter speeds without a battery.

Yeah I made one from an old pair of headphones and a light switch years ago. Had to short both half press and shutter at once since the switch only had 2 positions, so half press to focus didn't work, but that fine was for my purposes.
I've since gotten a cheap intervalometer for $15 or so that works well and has a button that works even if the battery in the intervalometer are dead. I'll try to remember to check what brand it is when I get home

I'd assume that is because Pentax didn't make any lenses in those focal lengths that don't report the focal length to the camera.

Ah yeah that does make sense. Still, the A9III is a camera that will probably spend very little of its time at base ISO shooting landscapes (and indeed makes little sense to purchase for that purpose).
I'm personally with you on the lower base ISO. Give me at least the number of MP my K-1 currently has and a base ISO of 32:) Also keep the body LEDs, GPS, and all the other landscape niceties.

Are you comparing all four cameras at +6EV? The URL linked sets them all to to +6EV when I click on it, but from ISO250 that would be equivalent to ISO 16000 on the Sony and not ISO 6400 like the others.
Setting the Sony to +4EV (ISO 4000) or +5EV (ISO 8000) it doesn't look nearly as bad to my eye. Still, I certainly won't be trading in my K-1 for a global shutter camera any time soon (for many reasons).

They aren't cheap, but I can attest that the S Type screen from focusing screen works very well.

I still see color aliasing in some of my images, which means sensors are not high enough pixel density yet.
Part of me wants enough resolution that every lens I own acts as an anti-aliasing filter. The other part doesn't want to deal with the file sizes that would probably require.

I've been hitting refresh on the pixls.us forum waiting for this :D
It should have *ist DS noise profiles now. I contributed them a while ago and it looks like they were merged recently.
Edit: Looked over release notes and see it mentioned. If anyone has a Q10 it looks like they need raw samples on https://raw.pixls.us. The release notes mention support for that camera has been dropped.

In the spirit of the holidays I've been listening the Christmas album "Merry Sinksmas" by an obscure death metal band called Disposal.
Delightful metal melodies, accompanied by the soothing vocals of a garbage disposal. What's not to like? MERRY SINKSMAS | DISPOSAL |

Don't crush my willful misinterpretation of a an ambiguous translation:) For a camera I couldn't afford to buy anyway:D
Dropping 645 does seem to make business sense and I think the writing has been on the wall for a bit. Still sad to see it go even if it was out of my budget.
Sort of like when Dodge stopped selling Vipers. I was never going to own one, but still a cool thing the brand was putting out there that I was sad to see go.

I have my doubts there too :D
They did reach impressively far South in April this year for those of us in the Northern hemisphere. I heard they were visible in states as far south as Arizona in the US. And indeed quite far North for the Southern hemisphere in the same event, as far as I understand.
I got these photos from central Wisconsin, US. In a relatively light polluted location. The one with the house is looking East/SouthEast. K_1_3901_02 by Charles Monson, on Flickr K_1_4025 by Charles Monson, on Flickr

For coffee lately I've really been enjoying Ruby Coffee Roasters. Local to Wisconsin, but I think they will ship anywhere in the US.
As for the brewing method, I'm a fan of a little Bialetti moka pot I have. Second choice would be French press.
