This picture was taken at 40 Acre Lake - Brazos Bend State Park. I had not planned to take this picture. I enjoy walking alone on this trail during week days, but sometimes there are crowds and to keep the distance, I just stopped and started taking some test shots.
This is one of those unplanned shots that I ended up framing (30x20). I used Pentax 645Z with 35mm 3.5 manual lens.

This picture was taken at Brazos Bend State Park in Needville, Texas. I got to the park a few hours before the sunset. I stopped at this spot but did not take a picture because the sun was too harsh. I thought maybe it is not a good day for landscape photos and started doing wildlife shots (birds and gators). On the way back to the parking lot it was close to the sunset time and I saw the clouds changing colors. It was just the right moment; and the birds on the leafless tree made the shot even better for me.
I used the Pentax-A 645 120mm macro lens for this shot on a Pentax 645z. This is a single shot and although the dynamic range of the sensor allows me to remove the shadows around the trees, i kept the shadows to make the sunset colors noticeable.

I agree. Having 100% (or close) cloudy conditions does not help. Also None of the pictures are sharp. I just sold me d800e recently and one of the problems i had with it was that it requires a tripod; even nikon on their page said says that to take a sharp photo use a tripod.
I am wondering and concerned if the issue is with hand-held shots; on a 36 mega-pixel camera any kind of shake is very visible.
