Since this is my first competition, I feel obligated to ask the "newbie" questions, (plus I don't know). How do I check to see if my entry was disqualified? I tried just looking back to where I asked a question the day after posting my entry. Seeing no image, I clicked on submit a picture, and the system came back, that I had already entered one. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

I'm a cat person, so for the sake of kittens in Sri Lanka I will not post a PDF of my entry page. Just knowing the entries are locked, makes me feel pretty sure that I did everything correctly in submitting my entry. Thanks for your help, I'll shut up now.

Side note, is that Arthur C. Clarke (author of 2001: A Space Odyssey) retired to Sri Lanka from 1956 until he died in 2008, supposedly a cat lover.

I don't see anybody's entries for contest #113, which may be the way it is supposed to be?? Maybe they open them for viewing and voting at the end of the month. I could attach a pdf of what I see for my entry, but I wouldn't want to do anything that might disqualify me. If entries aren't supposed to be seen, then my posting a pdf would be a no-no. Do I sound completely lost on what to do? If so, then that is accurate.

I read through all the rules, and requirements. I posted my first entry to a contest here, and thought I had done everything correctly. But it has been two days since I posted it. There have been no more entries, and no one is even looking at it, according to views. Other than me checking in on it. the views remain the same. I am beginning to think I did something wrong. Would someone please let me know what I did wrong, and if there is a way to correct it?

Fun on the water

This picture is a composite of several photos I've taken around the Daytona Beach area. The child is my cousin's grandson, and he was actually holding on to the side bars of a slide. The water images are of the Halifax River and the Atlantic Ocean. The duck with a strange head dress is from a local park, and the trees are from Reed Canal park. I dropped the background out of each of the components, and assembled them in my composition in Photoshop. If it isn't apparent, I am heavily influenced by surrealism.

My biggest dream was to tour Europe, when I was in my early thirties, I got the chance to go. I wanted to come home with something better than the average tourist snapshots. Two of my friends were professional photographers. One was a commercial portrait photographer, the other an art photographer. They agreed to teach me the craft, but I had to commit to using only a completely manual system, so I would have to learn the basics. At the time it meant I would have to make my trip to Europe as a neophyte photographer, not knowing if I would ever get a chance to go again. So it was a big commitment for me to make, but now I am glad that I did.

I got a Pentax K1000, and was given a library of books to read. I went on shoots with both of them, and some with all three of us. Part of my education involved developing the pictures. Over the years, I did get to revisit Europe several times. I ended up working my way up to somewhere between a dedicated amateur photographer and a beginner pro. I had my own darkroom, which was almost exclusively black and white. I never strayed from the Pentax fold, except for a brief flirtation with a Nikon. I think I had almost all models of the Pentax 35mm line, prior to the primarily electronic bodies. My last camera in the 35mm world was the PZ1, which I still own.

I became disabled, and my mobility was such that I had to give up my photography. But I never lost my love for it. I have gone through a long litany of health problems, and nearly checked out numerous times. After a number of surgeries, I am making what the doctor's call a miraculous recovery. They (whoever "they" are) say a near death experience give you a new outlook on the world. At least in my case it has, and I want to visually document it.

I worked in the computer industry almost all of my professional life, so this time around I am going to embrace the world of digital photography. I bought the Pentax K-r body, and through an ordering snafu, ended up with two bodies. My lenses, flash, filters, and such are a combination of new digital equipment and remnants of my 35mm Pentax equipment.

Now maybe that dog-gone "It appears you haven't posted on the forum yet! Why not introduce yourself?" banner will go away.
