Does anyone use the "bing cashback" for lens purchases?

I've used them for most of my lens purchases since the program began. Got $200 back when they were running 35% for ebay purchases last year.

This guy was very shy and I just couldn't sneak up on him, thank goodness for the Bigma. This was as close as I could get. Of course, I was facing in to the sun too. My first attempt at posting a picture here.

I prefer the hand grip and loved it with my GX-10/K10d but since I upgraded to the K20d with the battery grip I really don't use it anymore. If you're not using the battery grip I would highly recommend the hand grip.

Tripods who uses them, why and how?

I felt the same way about tripods until I bought a Bigma. I tried it on a cheaper tripod and had the same experience as you. My movements were jerky and the camera wouldn't stay where I locked it no matter how hard I tightened the head. And that was with all lenses, not just the Bigma.

I splurged for a reasonably priced set of legs and a good ballhead and find myself using it more and more for situations where I never would have used it before. A decent tripod is a joy to use, but the cheapies are nothing but frustration.

Just a thought, but I think if you are taking pictures of strangers, a flash may draw some unwanted attention and make some people uneasy about having their picture taken.

Not sure if you were aware but CCC is having a photo expo this weekend so there are supposed to be some reps there this weekend (including Pentax and Manfrotto). Maybe they'll give you a free t-shirt or something if you buy a tripod! Good luck with your search.

STL09. I'm assuming you went to Schillers. I looked at the same combo there too. I absolutely love the Vanguard SBH-200. I use it with a K20d, grip and Bigma and it's very sturdy. I voted against the 190XPROB because it was too short. I don't like using the center column unless I have to. I went with the Slik 700DX and haven't looked back. It's not a great combo if portability is an issue because it is fairly bulky, but it's built like a tank. B&H currently has the legs for $80 and the head can be picked up for around $60, so you can't beat the price.

I really enjoy mine, although it's not exactly portable. It's supporting a Vanguard SBH-200 head, with which I was also pleasantly surprised. The combo actually does a great job with the Bigma, and for under $150.
