Thanks everyone, I have tried all you suggested in the last year. I think it is just wearing out. Getting an estimate on repair, might have to bite the bullet and invest in new camera.

It sometimes just stalls, missing shots or stopping altogether. 110,000+ shots, maybe it is just wearing out?

The K5 does video better than my expensive Panasonic HDC-TM300. You won't need to bother with a video camera. I think you (and your wife) will be very happy with the K5. Good luck at your air show. Post something from the airshow, please. Here is an example of the video I shot with this camera, handheld, new user. You Tube |

It is really great to be able to do both video and still with one camera, especially on the run. Enjoy your new camera!

I have always wanted to see one of these in the wild. Where did you see him? Wonderful shots, I am green with envy. By any chance close to San Diego? I am going there next week.

:rolleyes:Well, yesterday was World Pentax Day. And this months contest was birds sooo...I went to the Bill Williams Wildlife refuge looking for birds with my Bigmna lens(50-500mm). A beautiful day and great hike, but no birds. So I decided to drive back over the Parker Dam and down the California side to see if I could find some birds somewhere on the river. Nope no birds , but I did run into a Fairy Duster in bloom and a herd of wild burros. All in all a lovely day.

I just spent a day shooting, did over 600 shots and about an hour of video before the battery ran low. Always carry that backup battery. If you are likely to run into any exotic animals or birds, etc. you will want a larger zoom lens. I wouldn't go anywhere with out any thing under a 250mm zoom. Have a great trip and I look forward to your work.

Auto ISO, can you explain? I didn't touch anything. Just turned it on and shot.
Doesn't look like the iso jumped around to me, and the shots of the cars going under the bridge were like bright sunlight to really dark.

This was the first time I had tried video w/this camera. I did nothing but, turn it on and point it. It was hard to aim it with only the live view in bright sunlight. After a couple of tries I just learned to line my eye up next to the viewfinder and fake it. This was all hand held, explains the shaky video. But I was on the run in rough terrain and didn't want to hassle with the tripod. I went out just to play around with the camera and didn't come home for 8 hours. Next year I will take a tripod.

I love doing the slowmo on those dust shots. We haven't had in rain for a couple of months, so the dust was really flying. I was glad to have a camera that is dust proof.

I love this camera!! The video is amazing for a still camera. The operator is a little shakey, but hey the adrenalin was really pumpin. It is nice to be able to run around the desert with just one camera, instead of 2 or 3. Played all day long, about 600 shots and about 1 hour worth of videos on one battery.
About 3 min. long. Hope you enjoy You Tube |

Hi, another one of the lurkers. Maybe we are all just shy.
I am the proud owner of a K20D, which I am pretty sure is smarter than me. I live most of the time in AZ, but summer at Chito Beach Resort, WA. Best of both worlds, weather wise. Lots of wildlife in both areas. amy
