I was able to purchase a Pentax 645 a week ago, it's the manual focus version. I am still reading the manual, and I am excited to go shoot with it. I think you got a great deal or should I say, a steal. I paid $500 for the body and a lens and I purchased a second lens with a longer focal length. I will always enjoy shooting my K1000 SE. It was my first love. ---------- Post added 05-03-15 at 05:38 AM ---------- I decided to buy the 645. Thank you for all your advice.

I wonder how much it would cost to fully revive a worn out 67?

I am currently using Pentax K1000SE cameras. I would like some advice on which MF camera is most like my K1000SE. I would like to keep the learning curve low so I can just jump into the MF a little quicker. I am not sure which model I should look for. I like the 6X7 models that are no longer in production. I don't which one to choose, 6X7, 67, or 67II. If anyone thinks of some other models please let me know. Thank you.

Hello, I joined the site today hoping to rediscover and regain some level of skill with my Pentax K1000SE film camera. I was introduced to the camera my freshman year in high school while taking the Journalism class. The photography portion lasted two weeks. I didn't touch a camera again until I had joined the Army National Guard and was doing some public affairs work for my unit. I purchased my Pentax K1000SE from the local camera store, making weekly payments, this was in 1990. I used the manual and bought books on photography to teach myself how to use it, and I was able to get some pointers from the camera shop owner, who was a die hard Pentax fan.
In 2005 I was able to purchase some miscellaneous pieces from a coworker who had made the switch to digital. Pieces include an extra 50mm lens, some device that increases a lenses power, I don't recall what the piece is called. If I put it on a 50mm lens the lens becomes a 100mm lens.
I am excited about getting my camera out again for the first time in many, many years. I hope the members can "dumb down" their suggestions for me so I can understand and apply their help to my photography. My wife owns a Canon Rebel digital that I have used occasionally. She is not a photographer, she inherited it following her fathers death. I was also wondering about how well the Pentax digitals compare to Canon and Nikon products?
