I've moved to Pentax 5 or less years ago from Minolta MD (oldies but goodies :-) - paperweight now :-( ) with the K10D release AND the K-mount compatibility status.
Since then I'm waiting for a FF "D700 killer" model... the ONLY pair body to the K-x.
Three steps are IMHO the future for Pentax:
1. Keep the body line VERY simple: a.645D, b. FF "D700 killer" and c. K-x with body upgrade in each model line.
2. Start re-producing new versions of good old lenses (esp FA's with DA improvements).
3. Open your software and wait for the community to respond... We will all be amazed...

"Can I take the sensor out of the K-x and put it in my K10D?" or
"Can I upgrade my K10D to a K-x?"

I re-updated the firmware with the latest one. Now Everything works under sudo command but this is a local (pc) problem.
Thank you very much for this nice utility.

Hi!
I use a K10D with an ubuntu 9.04 64bit PC. I just dowloaded the svn version of pkremote and made it.
I run the pkremote and I'm getting the following error on my console:
pslr.c:272:ipslr_status_full(p, &p->status) failed: 4
I've google that with almost all possible ways and I found nothing.
If anyone has any clue...
Thanks.

As calculated by SquintyEyes shipping from Canada to ATH, GR is really expensive. So here it is a Free bump up... :-)

Yes it is...
Let me intrude here with a simple (and silly) question:
Is it a hood screwed on the silver one? If yes please tell me which... I'm looking forward to find a decent one for this great lens on a Pentax DSLR... Thanks.

Dear Pentax,
this thread is an open mail to you so I'll post my thoughts.
Let me introduce myself:
I'm a guy who constantly tries to spread the photography "virus" to young people. I own a variety of gear which I collect through used market due to my limited economical strength. ( But I never sell anything at any condition. I just share them for free with my friends... )
I've already a small gear of Minolta MD lenses and bodies but these days I use them mostly as paperweight :-( . Two (and a half) years ago I saw K10D, read about K mount (Pentax history) and in 3 months I bought a new one (on sale period :-) ). In the last year I've spent my last photo-cash on used things with Pentax brand name on them.
Starting my thoughts with my main request:
Stay on the Pentax time-track:
Keep on designing and producing goods with: respect to your history and eyes on future. Top quality prime optics even without fast focus or water resistance. Well build but simple bodies with infinite photographic value. Do not follow others -some called leaders or pros only due to sales, not for me- just stay in a parallel track always making a difference.
And secondly:
Do it the open/free (as freedom) way:
Switch on open software/hardware philosophy. DNG was a small step, do the jump. Give the firmware of discontinued models to the public domain and in a few years your brand will conquer all photography youth worldwide (as the k1000 did 25 years ago). Make a “do it with your firmware adjustment” software just to play with and self-teach ourselves the real digital magic. Make a "Built To Order" variety of cameras by letting potential buyer choose not only the color but the sensor, the case and the firmware installed. Give us the opportunity to upgrade their equipment in firmware (and even in hardware) and switch between different photographic capabilities.
I do not care about May's (or future) product. I care about it's track in time...
Thank you for all.

Why? :-(
Please mount it, "shoot the spring" and maybe you'll change your mind...
I own a KIRON version and IMHO it's great...
