In AF-S the camera will not take a picture unless it has got focus lock.
In AF-C (and MF) , it will take a picture when you press the trigger fully - even if it has not got focus.
If you lock focus, you can recompose the picture while the trigger button is pressed halway. Or you can disable AF on the trigger button in the menu and use the AF button on the back to autofocus. The same rules for AF-S and AF-C apply when using the AF button.

The version I got on the Cd with my K10D is Universal. It just feels like a PPC version on my Intel Mac.:(

Give Pentax Photolab (on the CD) a try before you decide. It's a bit slow in its GUI, but works. And you have already paid for it.
I have started using this process for raw:
1. (only applicable if you use RAW only) create a batch job to process all new raw files to jpeg. If you use raw+jpg this step isn't needed.
2. Browse through the jpgs. I use Graphic Converter for this.
3. If some pictures need some more attention, I might 'develop' them separately in Photolab (more attention to white balance, etc). If I want to edit the pictures further (e.g. remove stuff) I export them as tiff and open them in Graphic Converter, otherwise I export as jpeg (usually in 'bright' mode)
4. Import keepers into iPhoto. I still haven't figured out what to do with the raw files though...
This is my process right now, I'll see how it works. I'll probably only use raw in difficult situations. Pentax Photobrowser is horribly slow, at first I thought it was a PPC binary. This is also a fairly cheap setup, Graphic Converter is only USD 30.

Check this link, I found it through Google.
I have a M50/1,7 that changes legth as I focus, I might buy an adapter to try this. It's fairly cheap, so it's no big deal if it doesn't work.
I actually tried with a 200 mm on the camera and the 50 mm reversed in front of that. I got something like 5 times magnification and practically no DOF at all. Might have been better if I stepped down a bit. But it didn't feel very practical.

How do you focus with the lens backwards? By moving the camera and lens back and forward until you have focus?
