A shot (nine stitched, technically) from our short 24km hike yesterday. Even though we're fairly local, we haven't had much chance to explore the area around Lake Louise, as it's always packed full of tourists, luckily for us, it's quiet enough to go explore now. On the left you can see the lake in the distance, and the ski hill even further behind. On the right there is Abbot Pass, and a wee hut in the pass there too (which can be seen in the full res stitch, but uploading a 40MP image didn't seem right...). The mountain on the right with the glacier is the famed Mt Victoria. Front and centre is Mt Folley, which a sign claims is home to the first mountaineering death in Canada. To the left of that is Mt Aberdeen. All in all an enjoyable day :)

Really nice shot Peter - this compulsion to take selfies everywhere thereby obscuring the view of whatever it is that you are standing in front of puzzles me, its always been the subject I was interested in, presenting a slide show with several hundred photos of yourself standing in front of unidentifiable objects must be terribly boring for the audience, I think I have only taken one selfie in my life and that was back in the late 1950's and that was because it was the only way I could record the elderly relative I was with at the time into her normal setting.

A shot worth waiting for anyway. Very nice. I have been in London on holiday a couple of times in recent years and I found the tourists got in my way as well.;)

The local Public Utility District puts out a calendar for it's customers every year and puts on a photo contest for the calendar. All the photos entered have to be taken within the county the PUD serves which is Columbia Co. My wife & family have been trying to get me to enter for the last couple years, this time I did. Submitted 10 photos (the max), 2 were among the 36 photos (9 for each season) customers were asked to vote for online in October.
This one "The Flicker's Nest" is one of the 12 that will be in the calendar, one of the Spring months.
