K-30 w/18-55WR and 50-200WR

So I just bought the K30 and 18-55 non WR from Target. I am within 30 day return policy. I love the camera and I have been playing around with my older prime lenses so want to keep it. But the Costco deal if both are WR is a great deal even with the tax. I paid around $600 from Target after tax for non WR lens. I do have a non WR 70-300 tamron lens already. What do you think should I return to Target and do Costco to get the WR lenses.

Thanks for the help. I dont need super fast transfer to the computer I am using 2.0 anyway so that negates these super fast SD cards. From my research today i have been unable to get a firm answer on the K30 uhs-1 compatibility (at least in terms of improving the buffer write speed). I'm going with the Sony 22 mb/s from buy.com, 2 for $18 shipped. I'm sure they will be fast enough.

Buying memory for my just purchased K30. I was going to buy 2 x 16gb sony SF-16NX Rakuten.com - Sony DSLR SF16NXTQ 16GB SDHC Class 10 SD Memory Card - 2-PACK but this seems a better deal for a faster card. Would welcome advice as it specifically applies to K30. Should I just get sandisk as I have seen reviewers on B&H complain about not hitting claimed speed with Sony. thanks

Chedoy. Could you let us know how the eneloops perform. I am planning on gettiing those as well. I have been using Sanyo 2500 Mah i got from costco a while ago, so far i have full battery after about 100 shots, most with flash and lots of viewing with the LCD screen. I was a little worried when the first set of NIMh batteries i put in lasted about 25 shots - they were older and lower power. If the Sanyo's give me 250 shots of use I am happy enough with that. so far it looks like they will exceed that number. I would use the eneloops as back up fully charged batteries in the bag.

WMBP. It was your blog that i had read! I didnt realize. I have decided to play around with the K100D and see if it works for our needs, the portability is going to be the one thing to get used to, we will no doubt carry our P&S around with us. I did walk to work with the camera around my neck and took a few pictures. I am playing around with the Av setting to get the DOF I would like -to me this is the biggest advantage to the Dslr. I am impressed with the quality of pictures so far which again is the main thing we buy a camera for. Photoshop elements will arrive today, i have photoshop7 but do find the learning curve to be too steep for everyday quick fixes etc.

are there any adaptors out there that would allow a slr canon rebel lens made by sigma to be used on the K100d? If not I wil be selling that kit on ebay.

I just read a blog comparing the Canon IS S3 and the K100d and DSlrs in general. Has anyone had any experience with the Canon IS S2 or S3. I didn't consider this camera before purchasing the 100d as I really wanted the control of the Dslr. But that being said it is unlikely that I will have any other lens besides the 18-55 kit lens for sometime. If i use the 100d with the kit lens how do you think that would compare to using an all in one such as the S3 which does have some nice features. I am definitely a beginner/novice with photography in general and my I will be mostly shooting family/indoor/vacation photos. certainly no wildlife. So I guess my question is would the S3 be better for shots of kids inside the home, or should i stick with the 100D and (over time) learn how to take better pictures.

Thanks for the info on the. I looked closely at the box and noticed the finish there too. Just making sure I have a good one.

I took about 30 pictures with the included batteries and updated the firmware before that finished them off. I will give my 2500Mah Sanyo batteries a try tonight and I am going to get the eneloop to keep in the bag so I always have batteries. When I was buying I thought the ability to run of AA's was a good thing but now I am not so sure - the Sony A100 gets great life from it's lithium battery. But as I have only spent $500 I am not grumbling about the power, the pictures and speed of this camera are great so far. Now I have to teach the wife how to use it.

I just opened the packaging and have taken a few test shots. One thing i noticed is a blotchy finish on the body. I had this with an old toshiba P&S. it looks like the mould leaked or something... the finish is not flat, but slightly bumpy? Has anyone else experienced this, is it normal. I might call beach camera to see what they say. Could this be a reject body case and hence Beach are able to sell for less than other stores. I can try and take a picture with another camera if people would like to see what I mean.

Well almost, my camera is on route via fedex from Beach Camera. Free 7-9 day shipping ended up being 3-4 days from order date, very impressive. I have been reading through this and other forums and i don't see much information on the following. As a new owner I am looking for good sites for used pentax lenses, ebay seemed to only have a few, does anyone have any other used lens sites.

Secondly is power. I have Nimh batteries already but i have read about the eneloop batteries and the rechargeable CRV3. I have read conflicting info on the CRV3 due to voltage issues but others who do use them, any recommendations for brand - Lenmar seem to be decent price on Amazon.

I considered the Sony A100, Canon's before deciding on the Pentax, it is my first Dslr although i used to use a Pentax in the 80's as I developed my interest in photography. My current P&S is a Casio 5.0 which is nice and portable but very poor indoors where I take most family shots.

I havent bought any other accessories yet, i would like a nice zoom lens and a wide angle option, but i will be looking for used for those.

Great forum.
