An ebay feedback score of "0" seems like a big risk the more I think about it. I always thought you start out small with ebay and slowly build up your feedback score then move on to sell the bigger items. This seller has nothing invested in ebay and has no established reputation. Seems like it would be easy for them to screw someone out of $2800.00 and then close this account and move on to another one (that they could have opened years ago). Am I wrong or is there some security for the buyer through ebay that I don't know about.

I've been watching this and I'm interested in the lens, but what do you think about the feedback score of 0 on ebay. Is it just a fraud. Someone who just made an ebay account to sell this one lens? Is there any security here?

Well, I have sensor stains too. s/n 3847744. I bought it from Amazon, through H and B Digital. I sent an email to the seller today, hopefully they'll respond soon. I have had the camera just over 1 month. I just saw this thread today and did some testing and sure enough there are stains right in the middle of the sensor.
Anyone know the best way to get it replaced? Through the seller (H and B Digital), Amazon or Pentax???

Sorry, I forgot to include the settings for the photo: F 1.7, 1/160 sec, ISO 1600.
As you can see from the above, I like other posters on this thread, have noticed the camera registering both F 1,7 and 1.8 for this lens.
The price of the lens? Lets just say it was a lot, but due to Post "LBA" Stress Disorder the exact number is now just a blur.

I recently purchased the A* 135mm, f1.8 on ebay. So far I love the lens. Here's a picture I took tonight just before we had some pumpkin pie. The photo was focused on the water faucet to try to demonstrate it's sharpness and DOF.

I also have had problems with sharpness with my Pentax A* 400mm, f2.8 lens that I purchased on ebay last year. The lens is in mint condition so I had no reason to think there was a problem with the lens. Lee/imtheguy directed me to this thread (pages 17-21+) and all the suggestions helped solve my problem. Placing a rear filter did not improve my sharpness. My problem was vibration. I use a Bogen 3051 tripod with Bogen 3421 (long tele) head. I used 2 sec timer delay and the photos were still not real sharp. I keep the lens on my K-20 with Pentax rear 1.4 TC on the tripod in my sunroom looking out over the back field. Using live view I noticed that the smallest taps on the floor with my foot caused the live view image to shake significantly. After reading this thread (most of it), I really tightened down the knobs on the tripod head to reduce vibration and the lens is now very sharp. Having the filter in or out does not affect the sharpness at all. I contacted Michiel Schaap, who has this lens and has some beautiful pictures on PPG, and he says he does not use a filter. I wonder if Lee, in his process of improving IQ, somewhere along the way changed something to improve stability and decrease vibration, at the same time he used the filter. I don't know, just a thought. I want to thank Lee for directing me to this thread, and thanks to all of you who contributed to this thread.

Great shots! I also got the Kenko 1.5 TC (Kenko for Digital Conversion Lens AF 1.5 x Teleplus DG) a couple days ago and it works great on my FA lenses. On my DA* 300 f4 however, I have no autofocus with it and have to focus manually. Does yours do this too, or is it just my TC?

I recently upgraded from K10D to K20D. I have a colour calibration disc (Stratos, similar to expo disc) to help manually adjust the white balance, and it has worked perfectly on my K10D. I have tried using it for my K20D and it is way off. The picture is way too red so I've been using the Auto white balance. Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong. Thanks.

This lens shows up on ebay all the time and is listed as new. I have e-mailed them for an actual picture of the lens , rather than a stock picture, however they say they don't have it since the lens will be "made" after placement of the order through e-bay. I thought Pentax stopped making this lens a while ago, so it sounds kinda fishy. The seller apparently is a large e-bay seller out of Japan and has a good reputation, so what gives? Any thoughts? Thanks everyone! We have a bluebird nestbox in our backyard and a birdbath so it has given me some opportunities to photograph these beautiful birds.

Hello everyone,
I've been watching this forum for a while and decided to join. There seems to be alot of great info shared on this site. I recently upgraded to a K20D from K10D and so far I love it. I'm fairly new to photography. I started with my purchase of the K10D about 1 1/2 years ago. I have been reading as much about photography as I can, but I feel a site like this where you can get ideas from other people is bound to help.
