If you are able to enter ISO and F-stop manually when they flash is in 'A' mode, you could trick the flash into emitting less light by entering a bigger apperture then you are actually using, an other way of 'compensating'...
E.G. when shooting at f8, enter f5.6 and the flash will 'think' the sensor is getting more light, so it will emit less additional light itself...
When the flash gets its settings directly from the camera, you may need to disable that by taping over some of the hotshoe contacts in order to make it 'think' it is mounted on a more primitive camera.
Perhaps someone here can tell you which contacts do what...
You would want the flash sinc contact to work, if possible also the one which operates the af-assist,
but stop the camera giving any extra information to the flash.
I can't experiment with this myself since I don't have the same equipment, but there should be a way :)
Good luck & happy shooting,
Patrick

Glad I read this thread before upgrading from the alpha300 :)
It actually steared me away from the K3 towards D7200 which is perfect for my purposes:
high ISO (10000 and up) , slow(ish) shutter aided by image stabilisation, high DOF (small appt) and 2nd ctn fill flash...
HOWEVER, the D7200 has been reported to loose shadow-detail below iso 3500 (google /youtube reports, not own experience so far)
at lower iso, the D7100 seems to be the better choice.
I'm not writing this to promote Nikon, just to emphasise the importance of doing some research(and even renting/borowing) before buying :)
There are no (or verry few) bad camera's/brands, but even within one brand it seems difficult to define which camera suits your specific needs.
Still hoping Pentax will be able to resolve the issue though,
perhaps they could include an option to choose between 'exact but slow ttl' and the 'fast but less reliable' one,
(if they can do it for 'shutter priority' versus 'release priority', why not give users this option too ? )
If you feel this post is off-topic, feel free to remove it :)
Meanwhile, best regards and 'happy shooting',
Patrick

Tanks, of course it matters... but above was stated the preflash delay was fixed but the final flash exposure still came 'late',
that's why I don't value the 'faster pre-flash' : what counts is the time it takes 'the whole system' to do what it needs doing :) ---------- Post added 06-30-15 at 05:33 AM ----------
The K3 cought my attention by its high ISO capabilities, thus being able to avoid flash for (mostly well lit) stage performances :)
At parties where lighting is constantly changing and flickering I like subject-motion blur, frozen at the end by some extra flash in 2nd ctn
With the K3 I would try to play with ISO/flash ratio to find a ratio where flash output is minimised without losing the effect,
an extra bonus would be faster flash recycle times :)
btw, I won't be going with 'fast primes', at indoor parties I like to have zoom range and will stop it down anyway to get reasonable dof ---------- Post added 06-30-15 at 06:00 AM ----------
oops...
got to read this after replying to your your previous post ...
but we seem to think +- alike
I got pretty wel used to dealing with shutter lag (calling it that because what counts is when the pic is taken)
got a bit scared when I read all these 'delay reportings',
guess pre-visualisation will always be necessary for what I want to obtain
so all that matters is : is the delay consistent...
(my present m.o. for fast spinning salsa-girls is depressing shutter when I see theyr back...
that usually gets me a pic of their face with the hair whizzing around )

Who cares when the pre-flash goes off?
I mainly 'shoot' fast dancers, and (to me) all that matters is getting a well exposed picture when I want it...
If awaldram experiences a big lag between actuating the shutterbutton (after pre-focussing) and the actual exposure,
that's all I need to know... don't care if it 'pre-flashes' earlier, 'beeps' sooner, 'whatevers' faster in the process.
I would like acurate TTL because I like to zoom in past other couples...
Would the K3 be able to do this (in 2nd curtain sinc) in a more primitive mode (plain, non-preflash, but still TTL) ?
Thanks for your feedback :)
