I missed the meeting in November but hope this will get to the correct people.
As a freelance photographer, I often use two cameras. While one is not being used, it is hanging down to my side. The one in idle state unknowingly changes something when it rubs on my side. I loved it when Pentax put a lock or unlock switch on the mode button but that doesn't stop the "joystick" buttons, apature dial, speed dial, and menu button, from being changed. This has caused me to lose several good shots being I have to stop and correct things. A couple of times things changed that I had not idea how to fix until I got home and looked in the manual.
Can someone from Pentax find or make a control or switch or button that is protected from all "bumps" and rubbing, and will LOCK all the settings until the operator unlocks the control? This could be a control or a software modification, or whatever is needed. It would be easy to unlock the control make any needed correction then lock it again when needed.

I've looked around for anything on digitizers. Only one came up that was able to digitize my Pentax K1 but I didn't feel like spending $450.00 USD, so I designed and made my own. Now that I have it, I looked on the Pentax Forum and even asked an administrator where I could find additional information around here. I never got an answer. Another person told me to look on a birding site.
I'm only using Pentax equipment.
Why wouldn't anything about digitizing be found on this forum? Am I the only one?

I've been looking around and very much considering the new KP model which has a mechanical and an electronic shutter. Now I have a question.
Does anyone know what the flash or strobe sync speed is on the newly listed KP?
Can anyone explain the difference between the two shutters in relation to a sync speed and how the electronic would work? I already know well about the mechanical sync speeds but nothing about electronic shutters.
A studio strobe, within my price range, claims to have a 1/8,000 flash duration speed. The KP claims 1/180 mechanical sync speed but has nothing about the electronic shutter sync speed..
I know well about the mechanical sync speeds but nothing about electronic shutters. Not owning a KP, I'm not able to experiment either.
Can someone "enlighten" me?

I'd like to know your findings wombat2go. I very much know that heat destroys most electronics! As you said, it must by a thermal problem, but I'm not electronically trained, so...
It looks like I'll need to use them as slave units only. That's okay but also mentioned on Page 27, the slave flash is only operates up to approximately 10 meters. That okay for most needs but every-so-often I go for more spaced out distances.

I've got three older AF-500 FTZ flash units. Generally they work well. Recently I've been trying to use them in remote locations and now I have a problem.
If I do not use the flashes constantly, they go into a sleep mode to save on battery power. This is normal. My problem is, now two of the flashes don't "wake up" and I'm not able to reach them to reset the switcheshttps://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/images/smilies/eek.png. I have no idea why only one of the three flashes will wake up.
In my experimentation, I have switched wireless remotes and still the same flash unit is the only one that wakes up. The same other two flashes will not. At 10-20 feet, it isn't a distance problem.
Any thoughts on this?
Now to my main question:
Is there a way to make the AF-500FTZ flash units permanently not go into sleep mode and stay on all the time? If not, is there an easy way to make an automatic flash trigger to fire the flash every minute so? That way my flashes won’t ever go into sleep mode? (I have external battery packs on each flash so they should last an hour or two.)

Just about all my comments are positive and come my from years of experience. When it comes right down to it, I’ll say things the way I see them!
Unfortunately, I've had more than one person interpret what I say the wrong way. Generally they are people who don’t understand American English too well. Then I spend a few minutes teaching them what the comment really ment!
It seems like a good idea but I'm too old to worry about points! "Damned the torpedoes... full speed ahead!"

Who cares what they come out with? ME for one!!!
I love the Pentax line, (Sony is a close 2nd.)
Pentax needs to start thinking about the average semi-pro who is having a real hard time keeping up with light gathering abilities of canikon users. Thank goodness I can still use my SMC-A 50mm f:1.2 that I picked up back in the 80's!

What a great "contest". I really could use a second Pentax body. Everyone knows that a backup camera is needed for anything like a wedding or photojournalism!

I've owned a Pentax SMC A 50mm f:1.2 since about 1985. Looking close at Skyntara's pictures at the top, I noticed something different.
Sure I've got the lever on mine but for whatever reason, on the ring, the filled in "dimples" beside the needed dot, (drilled out on his), are not on my lens.
Anyone know what those dimples are for?
LoL: The only problem it now has is that it's difficult to focus. LoL
(Reality is... my old eyeballs starting to go bad and I'm leaning towards auto focus lenses.)

We’ve all heard many stories before about Pentax and their FF or larger cameras.
Until they start producing fast lenses and good accessories that are comparable to the “other big guys”, nothing will change. They'll still be 2nd rate.
Maybe that’s what they want?

I'd give them the benifit of being BIG. Large stores often have workers that are not well versed in all makes of cameras. Additionally, they sell things so fast no one likely even looked at the "small" things. (BIG if you own Pentax!)
When I looked around for an Adaptall PKA-2 mount for my Tamron SP 3.5, 70-210mm, all the Ebay ones, (whenever they went on sale), and stores I phoned wanted around $100 to $150 USD.
A few months later, (January 2009), they were still very hard to find. I was getting desprit and very pleased to hear a local store, (Adorama), had one for $36 USD. The salesman told me it was completely manual, (as the box was marked), but I had to have one so I drove to them and bought it.
Four months and about 300 shots later, I looked really close at it. To my surprise it actually was an Adaptall PKA-2, not manual as marked on the box.
Being the honest guy I am, (or stupid???), I went back to clear things up. They told me not to worry about it since their store was marked for closing a month later and the books were closed on my sale anyway.
Like I said, big stores do make honest mistakes here and there. (Color me happy!)

Peter,
If the rest of your pictures are close to the ones you posted, calm down! On my off times, I check out lots of other wedding and portrait sites. Many, "so-called" pros have nothing even close to yours!
If they're going to be disappointed with reasonably good shots, they have more things in life to worry about. (Like how long the marriage is going to last!)
Just remember to calm down and do your thing!

First time voting so I had to think about "things". Nice photos!
Hint:
Instead of marking down the numbers, I copy/paste, pictures and all, to my word processor. Then I deleted all but the best six!
Works for me!

Put your phycology hat on!
Let children keep an inexpensive camera for along time just to see what they think is important. It might help if you give them a variety of different subjects. Maybe a different one each week or month. Who knows, you might analyze the pictures they take and find out what the child really likes.
A bunch of bugs and it might mean nature. Stars, maybe astronomy or a navigator. People in general might be a social worker. A bunch of photos of things being controlled could possibly be a CEO type child. (I wonder what a photographer would be? LoL)
If you keep this up, it just might help you determine what field of studies they should be “swayed” into taking.

Sirs:
While looking through the "Lens" portion there is one thing I'd like to find
out. The information may already be there but as you know, I'm new at this
site and so far haven't noticed it.
Is it possible to include the range of dates that each lens was/is made? Something simple like 1992 to 1998, or 1996 to Present, should be enough.
Thank you.

I'm not sure but it sounds like she somehow set the EV higher than normal.
Owning a small Canon, I can tell you they are a real PITA to take pictures in changing conditions if you want the shot right now!
There are several ways to get the same results and you'ld think each control feature is different!
