Long story short, I'm down a lens cap on my pentax 31mm 1.8 lens. Is there any place I can buy a new one? A quick google search didn't turn up anything.
Thanks.

Now that I have this k5.. that basically sees in the dark, I'm getting a lot of night images that are too bright for my taste.
Now obviously I can adjust this manually by underexposing in various ways.
Is there a way I can adjust the camera to always under expose in low light to match what my eye see's more closely? Basically re calibrate the camera to expose differently for different light?
Does this type of feature exist anywhere in the slr world?

My girlfriend and I were able to goto south america (Bolivia, Chile, Argentina) during our Christmas break.
We were able to check out one of the dakar stages while we were down there. It was pretty awesome. When the first car went by (carlos sainz) I had a grin for ear to ear. I loved it.
Here are a few pictures I took from stage 3:
You can check out the whole set here: Carlos Sainz | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
PS. Tons more pictures coming from the rest of the trip, especially Bolivia.

I'm on vacation in bolivia right now. In la paz, which is at around 3600 meters. The plan is to head upto about 5000 meters.
Tonight the auto-focus was acting up pretty badly on distant objects (close to infinite focus range). This is on a k5 and a 16-50 2.8.
My laptop hasn't been handling the altitude very well (who knew hard drives need sufficient air pressure).
I was wondering if the autofocus on dslr's are affected by altitude. I found a few hits on google that hint toward this.
Any ideas?

Long story short, I bought a pentax k5 on Nov 14th at Broadway camera here in vancouver.
I didn't get much of a chance to play with it since then.
Yesterday I bought a pentax 50-135 f2.8 from Broadway camera as well.
Basically with this lens I found out the body is faulty and has a major front focus problem which is obvious with this long large aperture lens. Even the in body focus adjustment couldn't correct it. I tested my other lenses and they are front focusing as well, but as they are shorter lenses it isn't as noticeable.
Basically I went back to Broadway camera today asking for an exchange on the body. Sending it in for warranty isn't an option as I'm leaving for Bolivia on Thursday.
The guy helping me at first wouldn't admit the camera was front focusing in the first place. I showed him over and over again, it's not focusing right. Eventually he said, yes ok there is a problem. Then he lost my receipt for the lens I bought the previous day, they spent 15 minutes looking for that one until they printed a new one(minus the interac receipt).
In the end they wouldn't give me an exchange. I realize i'm past the 14 days (they have a 14 day exchange policy and 7 day return), but I've spent thousands of dollars there in the past on lenses, bodies, tripods, filters etc. The body I'm exchanging has 700 actuations on it (around 300 of those would have been at the factory) and its in perfect condition other than the focus issue.
I should have done a better job checking over the camera before I bought it, but geeez, after spending so much money there and it being a fairly small company, you'd think you'd get some better customer service. This sucks.
Basically, I'm looking for advice on what to do. Or what can I say to convince them to give me the exchange. I'm leaving for Bolivia on Thursday and I need a properly functioning camera.

Ok, we've gotten to the point of agreeing on a price, now I have to create some sort of image licensing agreement.
Can anybody give some advice on this? :) Originally posted by MJB DIGITAL i would say that you should ask Jen how much she wants to make since she shot the photos:

I've got someone from a magazine wanting to use an image from this set as their cover image for a new magazine: Head - a set on Flickr
I wondering how much to charge. This new magazine will be going to advertising agencies around the world and should be fairly high profile. The company is based out of Montreal.
I have no experience with this kind of stuff, so i thought I'd ask you guys. Also, as a side note, should I insist on sending the images only after payment is received, but send watermarked versions to prove they do exist?
Thanks,
Eric

Wondering if anybody has noticed any dead pixels when shooting video on their pentax?
I just noticed I had three dead pixels. I ran the pixel mapping function, it removed two but one remains... right in the center of the image.
Is it possible the sensor is getting hot? I checked some earlier videos I took and, I didn't notice any problems.

I just bought a new Pentax k7, which was apparently new in box.
I checked to see if the camera had been used before by checking how many times the shutter has been released. The EXIF data stated it had been released 248 times before i purchased the camera.
Is this normal? Does the Pentax factory do this?

Apparently Getty and Flickr have some sort of agreement that allows Getty to invite people from Flickr to sell their images.
I just got invited to Getty, but I'm extremely weary about it all. They are offering 30% on rights managed photos (whatever that means), and 20% on everything else.
Now that doesn't seem like a lot, especially when its my picture.
Does anybody here have their images on Getty? What are your opinions?

wow thank you!
the frame rate is 6fps, I picked that mostly because that created a good length to fill the song, and giving me the flexibility to cut out what wasn't needed. Its also a good speed for the music and viewablity. And lastly its divisible by 24 and 30.
The shots of the train passing by were actually shot at 21fps but I dropped frames to keep the speed up and suit the rest of the video.
