I'm talking about AF acquisition accuracy and speed. You can eat your panning/shutterspeed/DOP horse dung. You're intentionally missing the point, to make a different point, trying discount the person making the point, and ultimately deflect and confuse the original point. What a LOSER you are.

Again, read my first post. You'll pardon me if i've lost a bit of my politeness dealing with the likes of morons like you. Yup, that's you I'm talking about. I already told you in the orignal post, if you're not interested or will get offended, don't read on. ie. don't pollute the thread. but FANBOYS like you have to jump in and criticize, judge and basically find reasons to defend the gear at all costs. Well too bad, cuz you can't hid the truth buddy. Pentax makes great glass and offers bodies at cheaper prices. If it's the cat's meow, they would be #1...or at the very least the undisputed #3. Today, they are neither of those by a long shot.
Don't expect any pity from me...go back home and cry to your mommy about people not being nice to you on the PENTAX forum. If you can't read and understand the first line of the first post, then you should absolutely get everything that you got.
and again, PENTAX equipment doesn't suck. infact, it's funny...you lunatics have used far worse adjectives describing pentax then I...and you're trying to say that I said it. HA!

read the first veeeeeery post fanboy. in addition, this is (see logo at top left of page) is discussion regarding pentax...a 'friendly pentax discussion community'. Nowhere does it say I need to currently own pentax gear to offer my feedback of my pentax experience
typical 'if it's not good news i don't want to hear it' attitude. no wonder pentax is lagging behind...you guys are completely in denial and supress any feedback. if you've actually spent time reading the first post, you would know that it was to share my pentax experience, frustration, and ultimate departure because it did not fit MYshooting style. moreover, i see room where pentax can IMPROVE but has not. as a pentax user yourself, don't you want to see improvements?
I feel like i'm lecturing some school yard bullies. grow up!

RE: AF and sdm
nobody said it wasn't usable, just could be better and should be better for the price. it does not take alot to get it right. and let's face it, pentax gear is relatively cheap, but it is, by no means, cheap. It's a good chunk'o change. I just know that PENTAX is making compromises to the product to try and protect margins. Taking out features that they know they need to make it a better camera, going cheap on materials, etc. Damn even the menu system looks like crap. Samsung got their menus looking like it's from this decade on the GX20...why can't pentax? The fact that this caliber of gear is assembled in the Philippines also screams cost cutting. Goto PMA and the difference is apparent.
RE: P&S
Just because there are times that put the camera in auto and I point the camera and shoot, it doesn't mean I'm looking for a P&S camera. You've (and to be fair pretty much everyone that's flamed this post) has missed the comment that turn the camera and shoot right away probably 20-30% of the time. Let's face it, there isn't always time to, and you don't always want to adjust settings to get that shot. In the end, it's about capturing the image, not playing with the tool.
The D3 is a monster but I think I've found my sweetspot with the D700. Great P&S and customizable in every way. In anycase, thanks for your constructive feedback. nice to know that his forum is not full of nutcases. =D

Alot of people on this forum have a problem facing these facts. Many of them are just followers and do what PENTAX does. It is loyal and reflective users like yourself that can offer REAL feedback that can make PENTAX better. I'm sick of hearing about crapola E60 and M60 junk being released. You make an exceptional pro/mid/higher end camera and the P&S buyers will follow your reputation. See Nikon and Canon with Panasonic as an exception. Pany actually makes a good P&S.
Keep posting...you'll do good if a PENTAX product guy actually comes across your posts.

...the education fund part was a joke, but anyways.
my point again, which someone else already brought up here, is that it's achievable for pentax to add the feature. you don't have to go into the "pro" world, just add some of those features. faster "SDM" lenses aren't a biggie, faster total AF acquisition is not a biggie...adding a more accurate or tuned light meter and adding a real focus assist is not a biggie. I'm not asking for an FX sensor, just some simple stuff that would make a HUGE difference. and people will pay for it.
that, my friend, is the sad part.

thanks for the d700 pic. it was extremely informative. too bad there's no seal for the mount! anyways, I'll let you have it. my d700 is as good as yours in wet....lol thanks.
but as i said, i do'nt shoot in the wet. so thanks for telling me something I don't care about.

Your point about the fact that people here did try their gear is pointless. the post is not only for you, but for readers thinking about a pentax setup with similar requirements like mine. so they can learn from my experience. that is what this forum is about isn't it? ever think about that?
RE taking my own advice about trying gear:
assumptions assumptions. i already posted here that I returned it so it is you that is not reading. i merely decided to put it on my credit card and try it for a longer duration at at my own pace. i received a full refund so at the end of the day, I "tried" the equipment at no cost to me. I don't mind paying full price for that "service".
Get it?
