Hello all,
I am trying to find a way to use my Rokinon 8mm Canon Fisheye lense with my Pentax K5 (I switched from Canon to Pentax some years back). I have learned that there are no adapters for Canon lenses that would make them compatible with my K5. However, a friend mentioned using a Nikon adapter and then using a Canon adapter on top of that in order to make it compatible. Has anyone seen this work? Any drawbacks?
Happy shooting, |

Thank you all so much for these great responses. I am so glad I switched to Pentax! To date I am currently using the following lenses (in order of favorite to least favorite):
•Rikenon 1:2 50mm
•SMC Pentax DA 1:2.4 35 mm (plastic fantastic)
•Cambron MC 1:2.8 28mm (auto)
•Tamron 1:3.5 28-300mm
I do mostly for-fun shooting but I'm pretty diverse in that I love low light stuff as well as nature stuff (and people shooting as well of course). But I still want pro quality shots! LOL.
I would really like to find a great zoom (with excellent image quality) below $200, as my Tamron really isn't the greatest IMO. However, I've been told that primes always have better image quality. It would also be nice to add a wider angle lense to my collection. Any suggestions overall is great though. I'm still exploring to find the right set of lenses to use.

Hi All!
I am new to the Pentax family. I switched less than a year ago and have had some really good results with some lenses. However, I wanted to get your opinions. What are the best bang-for-buck lenses for the K-5? I'm thinking of the following categories and really want high image quality:
$100 or less
$100-$300
$300 and above
Are there any zooms with high image quality that won't break the wallet? I'm open to buying used as well :p

I have been searching for an adapter (EF to K) for my Pentax. I switched from Canon to Pentax. Does anyone know where I can find these adapters? I can't find any when searching Google.
Thx

That link is in German (the Germany eBay). I'm in California. I'm going to stick with USA for now actually. My naked lenses right now are the Rikenon 50mm F2 and the Plastic Fantastic Pentax 35mm 2.4.

I'm leaning toward the adjustable rubber hoods at this point.

Well, right now I am shopping for hoods for my Rikenon 50mm F2 and my 35mm 2.4 Plastic Fantastic. I was thinking of getting some of the universal rubber hoods that allow for multi-function and wondered if they would fit; seeing as some of them are not listed as specifically working with Pentax or Rikenon.
The question is, on my lenses, do I go by the " 49mm" inscription when shopping for hoods or something else?

I'm new to buying lens hoods, as well as being new as a Pentax owner, and would like to know if all lens hoods will work on a lens as long as they state the same size as the lens (i.e. - 49mm). Are lens hoods standard across the manufacturers or do they differ in some way even if they are say 49mm?
I'm looking to buy some hoods on eBay but some do not specifically say Pentax on them. I'm wondering if they will still work for my lenses, provided that I buy the one that corresponds to my lens.

Do you happen to have a lense hood you could include?

How much are you asking for the 35mm 2.4 alone?

How does it compare to the PENTAX-F 80-200mm F4.7-5.6?

Does the 1.4 fit fine on the K-5, no problems?

Thank you all for your comments and help. I am very excited about getting started with my K-5. Although it's not here in the mail yet, it will be soon and I'm currently shopping for lenses :)

Hi All,
A friend at work convinced me to switch from my Canon Rebel XSI to a Pentax K-5. So I am now a part of the party! I'm hoping to learn a lot here and hopefully post some good shots with some good lenses. Any suggestions for good inexpensive lenses I should start off with? I'd like to be able to shoot low light if needed (like concerts with no flash) as well as outdoors and in nature.
