My observation is: I like the Fuji pictures using the Pentax lens best, the coloring seems better. I would like to see Pentax update the 645Z.

I appreciate the responses post in this thread, and particularly those posted by Rick demonstrating the effect of a range of apertures on the overall rendering of the picture. Thanks! I haven't been using my FA 120 macro for quite some time to take advantage of its capabilities.

I don't have any advise for your immediate problem. Last summer my 67 shutter wouldn't reset. I ended up sending it to Advance Camera in Portland, OR. They did a complete cleaning job. The camera had problems I wasn't aware of. It was purchased from Japan on Ebay. I used it one summer, and no-go after setting idle over the winter/spring. They found fungus, cleaned the innards, lubed, replaced seals and fixed the light meter that had quit working. I suggest you send yours to them for a tune-up.

What prompted me to start this thread was the concern that a film might have formed over the sensor degrading photo quality. I've had this camera since 2015 without having the sensor cleaned. Many lens changes in often in not so great environments must have some degrading effect. I cleaned the sensor on the Canon 5D I had prior to buying the z, but have not attempted to clean this sensor.
I see most comments have been concerning dust, but what about some "foggy" film over the sensor?

It looks like a cicada similar to what we have in the US. The basic features are the same. Here cicada's come out of the ground, have that "needle" to suck tree sap and the buldging eyes on the side of the head.

I wasn't aware of the reset button. I pressed it, heard a click, but the mirror didn't return. I think I will send the camera in for repair and cleaning.

I have a pentax 67 model. Recently after not using the camera since last summer I put in a roll. After pressing the shutter the mirror didn't return and the camera is "froze up". I put in a fresh battery, that didn't help.
What is the fix for this situation?
Thanks

What is lost by going from a 50mp to a 100mp sensor? This is a curiosity question. I have always thought that a larger pixel sensor has an advantage but am not really educated on the subject. As more pixels are located in the same size sensor what qualities are lost such as loss of shadow detail, etc. Or, if any.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. It has been corrected. ---------- Post added 01-28-21 at 08:43 PM ---------- I'm open to comments and suggestions and whatever that can be employed to obtain better results. I think that since the house was 130 yds away, at f11 the focus isn't real critical concerning the house, the depth of field would be about 50 ft? As regards to the focal point, it was placed on the house. For the two 645 FA's.

Last Saturday there was a break in the cloudy weather that we've been having here in W Washington. I just purchased the 645 FA 150-300mm lens ED(IF) lens on Ebay. The cost was only $250 plus shipping. I also have the 645 FA 200 and the 67 SMC 200 (latest version). So, in addition to testing the new to me zoom, the three were evaluated to compare image quality.
I test my lens from my front porch shooting down the street. Our neighborhood isn't anything fancy but does offer a great variety of objects near and far. The lens were mounted on a 645Z on a heavy tripod without change in viewing position. All three exposures were at the same speed and aperture. Each file was processed using Photoshop CC via Bridge. The files were process using the Auto adjustment feature identically (no individual slider tweaking).
For this post I've selected a crop that is focused on a house down the street being about 130 yards distant. I've also posted the full frame image. The power post seen in the crops is about 20 yards in front of the house.
Here's the full frame picture. _IMG8645 645 150-300 f11 @ 200 Series 1 Full Frame by

In comparing these I find that the 645 FA 200 image is inferior to the other two, however I think it's images are very usable. While the 67 SMC 200 is quite good, I was surprised that the 645 FA 150-300 image is slightly better than that of the 67 SMC 200, giving better contrast and a very small bit more resolution. Overall I'm quite impressed with the 150-300 lens. I shoot mostly landscapes and thus am not handicapped by it's being a rather slow lens. It is also compact for it's focal length range. Results even at 300mm are quite good, so it will be with me for a lot of outings.
In looking at the images from all three lens I found that each excelled a some point in the scene a little better than the others. Also, I'm aware that my evaluations are limited to the quality of my display and technique. As for usage, the 67 200 will be relegated to use on my 67 film camera. It fits nicely in the bag used for this camera along with the 55-100 and 45. The FA 200 mostly stays home.

Here are two from early this summer. Both taken by the 645Z with the 645 DFA 35mm handheld. The water fall picture required about a mile hike. To get the perspective I wanted required leaning over to my left as far as I could reach with the camera resting on a post of the viewing platform railing. Please forgive me for not presenting a "smooth" water fall shot!

I'm using the 645 DFA 35. It is very good (I don't have the 67 33-55). I had the 645 A 35 which produced nearly the same quality, however since I use the 645Z hand held for all sorts of situations, people shots, traveling, taking pictures out the window of a tour bus, etc., I find the autofocus indispensable. In my case, I'd like to have the 67 33-55, however it costs $500 minimum which is not a priority right now.

I've found these comparisons of the 67 series lens to the 645's interesting. I own several 67 lens to use with my 67 film camera and also with the Z. Personally, I've found that the 645 35 DFA, the 45-80 and the 80-160 are giving slightly superior results with less color fringing. This is in comparison with the 67 55-100, the 45, the 200 lens. My 645 80-160 is giving very good resolution at 160mm. The 67 105 is the equal of my 80-160 at 100 mm, or slightly better. My 645 200 is superior to the 67 200. These comparisons are at f10 using the scene from my front porch. Here I can compare tree leaves, branches, houses and power line insulators with sharp edges at varying distances up to 600 yds. These tests have been using the Z camera. However, the 67 lens give a different rendering which is useful.
I should do more head to head testing on the same day conditions as most of my evaluations have different lighting situations. Why carry several 67 primes with adapters when the two zooms listed above are so very good? One reason would be if a different aperture was needed.
My go-to bag for the Z has the 35 dfa, the 80-160, sometimes the 55 dfa and when longer reach is needed, the 67 300 ed-if in its case. For the 67 film camera the 55-100 is most used. I do enjoy collecting the 67 lens and testing them, however they are mostly sitting on the shelf.

Since I have the 67 300 M* and tested it quite a while ago I thought it would be good to add to this thread. I've been testing the various lens taking pictures down the street from my front porch. The first picture is the full frame shot while the 2nd is a crop of the same shot, picture taken at f11. As you can see the power pole is in focus, being 150 yards down the street. _IMG1155 f11 _IMG1155 f11 Crop 3 |

Back in the day when I was still using my Canon 5D it got soaked and quit working. I opened it up, and, after drying it still worked until moving on to the 645Z, and I was able to sell the camera on Ebay for a decent price!

I'm frustrated with LIghtroom CC, it no longer will let me reorder pictures. I'd appreciate suggestions on software to do this.
