Landscape Contrasting Textures versus Framing

The textures in the water are the true subject. I would focus on that area. Maybe a crop of just the water. Nice job.

Not a fantastical guide, but I make many trips, usually day trips, into the Finger Lakes Area. You are more than welcome to join. A visit to the Yellowstone of the East Coast (Letchworth SP) would definitely be a stop.

Spectacular shot. The light is amazing. Only thing that bugs me, and it bugs me only a little, is the lens flare.
Cropping is to taste and I like the whole scene here.

One of those spots I have not shot yet. Made it there last year, but lower section was closed due to trail construction.
Great shot of an impressive waterfall.

Using the K3 Mark iii on my first outing at the County Park. This pond which is not always there was full of water, a rarity. Found this scene while walking around the pond. Camera works wonderfully and enjoying the touch screen. 3 images stacked.
Enjoy

Sorry to hear the Kevin. Hope everyone recovers soon. The virus hit me back in February and knocked the socks out of me for 4 days. I then coughed for 2 weeks. Then it was done and hopefully never to return.
Again get well soon.

What photographic opportunities do you have access to.....because of where you live ?

I live in Western New York and I am 30 minutes away from the best hidden state park in the state, Letchworth State Park. I am also 45 minute to 1.5 hours away from the wonders of the Finger Lakes region. Also the great lakes of Erie and Ontario are a short 30-45 minutes away. And lastly of course Niagara Falls and the region around the falls is a short 45 minute trip. Western New York is a treasure trove for landscape photographers and others also.

Luminar 4 & Aurora HDR - Humble Bundle

I use and like Luminar 4. I tend to use it as the finishing touches on a photo after processing in Lightroom first. Luminar 4 has such nice tools and effects which are easy to access and use. Only complaint would be the dodge and burn. There really is no go back option, so if you don't like what you have done you have to erase all steps prior.

What software do you use to post process your photos?

I am a software collector, if there is such a thing. I use Lightroom to start. Migrate to Photoshop as needed. Will send the photo thru Luminar 4 for final finishing. Then sharpen and denoise in Topaz AI.
Nothing like keeping it simple!!!

Basic Photo Software

There are many good choices.

Adobe Photoshop/Lightroom subscription is only $9.99 a month. Lightroom is "relatively" easy to get started using, but does have levels of complexity to it. Photoshop is photoshop as far as level of difficulty.

Luminar 4 is $89. A program easy to operate, but allows you to grow as your skills increase.

My son took me to a Yankees game in June. Best shots from the bleachers seem to be artistic shots. Some work with Topaz Impressions here.

Out on the beach taking some shots and a mirror image of myself appeared, so I took my self portrait or as close to a self portrait I could make.
