I was thinking of a fast prime to replace my manual 50mm 1.7.
Regarding the 35mm 2.4 or the 18-50mm 2.8 zooms by Sigma and Tamron, can you blur the background at those apatures? Are they fast enough in low light?

Was the rebate in the box when it came to you, or did you have to print it online? Amazon mentioned the rebate, but it was not with the packing list when it arrived.

Ordered the Metz 48 and got it in today. Being my first flash, my immediate impressions are 1) it lights up the room even at 0 degrees and 2) it's heavy. I bought the K200 partly because it was lighter than the K20 and would thus make a better travel rig. This dude adds some weight. We're leaving for Hawaii Thursday, so I have some reading and practicing to do.

Get your mind out of the gutter; I'm talking about for my 200D.
I want a decent flash that doesn't break the bank. I like landscapes, but my wife and I also shoot pictures of our one year old and normal snapshots. In those situations the camera is mainly set to auto. Not sure how much the swivel feature would benefit us, but it seems handy. Bounce is a must.
I'm thinking of the AF360FGZ, 48 AF-1, or the EF-530 DG Super. There's a local shop that sells the Promaster 7500EDF for about $225. Seems like a lot of flash for the money, but it's pretty big.
Help!

Is Mrwho really Yoda???
He hasn't posted again in this thread, so I doubt he really cares. At any rate it's a "paper loss" just like home or stock depreciation. There's no actual loss until you sell. I've traditionally had a problem with buyer's remorse. I'd get pumped about going skiing, then feel guilty about spending the money and barely enjoy my trip. Not cool. I've since learned NOT to price check after making a purchase. Do your research, make your purchase, and enjoy.

Nope. Never seen one, but I hear they're nice. I dig the AA battery feature as well. AA's are available in lithium, and if the run out there's always something you can rob AA's of off in a pinch.
Got the lens today...body should be in tomorrow. BTW, Amazon had the best deal on the body, and B&H on the lens.

The reason I went with Pentax over Cannon and Nikon was the built-in image stabilization and backward compatibility of the lenses. My dad's 50mm 1.4 will make a superior low-light lenes. I also liked the weather proofing and old school ruggedness.
Now it almost seems like price gouging for Cannon and Nikon to sell IS lenses. Pentax nearly worked themselves out of the game. Innovation, and quality of course, may bring them back to the glory days of the K1000.

I've been hemming and hawing over a new camera for quite some time. I knew I wanted the 20d and just had to pick a lens and finally let go of the money. Then I went to the local dealer. The oddest thing happened. My wife and I held the 20d and decided it was just too big and heavy for the travel photography we like to do.
Now what?? The 200d? But what about the drop in resolution? And no live view? Nooooo!!
After taking inventory of what we actually need in a camera, we decided the 200d would do all we desire and more. We coupled it with the 18-250mm lens and should have a pretty good travel rig.
I have my dad's old ME and 50mm 1.4. I can't wait to get the 200d and start snapping. I think the $200 savings from stepping down from the 20d will go toward a 12-24mm in the future.
Now I just have to add one of those "proud owner" banners... :)

Hello! I've been looking at buying a 200D for quite some time. I saw the following ad on Craig's List and remembered that many of you prefer the K10D over the 200D. What do you think about the following system?

Hello! Long time reader, first time poster. I'm thinking of buying the 200D and the 18-250 lens. I primarily do outdoor travel photography, so this *seems* like right set up. I may get a wide angle zoom (12-24 maybe?) as well. I have a 50mm 1.4 off my ME that I'll use at parties, etc. It looks like the Tamron lenses are a bit cheaper and, from what I've read, basically the same as the SMCs.
With all that said, any words of advice? Better to buy a kit or body + lenses? Greatly appreciate all your opinions!
