I thought they weren't that big a deal, but was wondering if I had missed a step or done something wrong... Edit: almost missed that: Thanks for the welcome !!
Ketil,
I had first tried using the deb package on Jaunty, didn't get it to work either (couldn't find out if it's the deb or something in Jaunty causing it).
The install from source did work on Gloria (which is based on Jaunty), maybe try that.
I installed the libglade2 and libglade2-dev through synaptic and followed mostly the method described here (adapted from gentoo to debian-alikes though)
Good luck!

Hi,
Since I'm not a native English speaker, I am not quite sure about the exact English name :o
Bear in mind that Pentax and Samsung are Japanese and Korean, so their name might be something other than the correct term either ;)
Can't you find it in the exploded views with serial numbers in the service manual? p.24 I believe... they seem to call it "eyepiece"
It "should" be possible, but I wouldn't even try it if it was my camera (quite scary I find this electronics stuff)
I don't know if you will be able to find the parts separately. Make sure you have VERY high quality screwdrivers in the exact size before doing this, you don't want to break those little screws....
Good luck!!

Hi there,
Fresh Linux Mint Gloria install, added libglade2 and libglade2-dev, installed PKremote using make-make install.
It gives me some error messages, but I can make pictures and change the settings as described in the other pkremote thread.
I am relatively new to linux so I don't really understand where the messages come from. Could someone with more knowledge point me in the right direction please? Google didn't seem to offer much help :o
On starting PKRemote I get this
After every picture I take using the GUI I get this error
Any help appreciated, I'll keep looking myself too.
Regards,
Wouter

Hi,
Are you talking about the focusing screen being shattered or the prism itself?
The focusing screen can be swapped for a Katzeye or similar, or a K10D one (I have a Focusingscreen.com one), it took me about five minutes following instructions on their site.
If it is more serious, I can't help you I'm afraid.
If you are technically inclined there is a GX10 service manual somewhere around the net where you might find necessary procedure, but that operation would be entirely at your own risk...
you could start looking in this dpreview thread, not sure it's still there K10D - GX10 1.30 Firmware Debug menu via usb activation. [Page 1]: Pentax SLR Talk Forum: Digital Photography Review
Good luck,
Wouter

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the welcome!
On the lens vs talent topic, some very good points made by Rense
Oh, and Kurt, would you believe that I have taken (bad ;) ) photographs in all sorts of places but never even thought of photographing the home town? :o I only live here for 6 years...
Will do so this summer probably: end of july is "Gentse Feesten" for those interested in a good time in Gent!

Hi All,
My name is Wouter and I live in Gent, Belgium.
I have been lurking for some time, but why not get out in the open and present myself.
I own a Pentax SFX and my introduction in the digital world was definately going to be a K10D until I came in the store and was presented with a GX10 for a much lower price :o
Since then I got a bit carried away in newbie LBA and "fleabay fever" so I now own more lenses than talent, but we're working on that
Well, this site has helped me a lot already in improving my skills and who knows, one day I might be able to help someone also...
Kind regards,
Wouter
