Higher shutter speeds help a lot, but electronic shutter is not always better. When the subject moves I find that a mechanical shutter is best.

This looks very similar to a Zenitar 16mm f/2.8 that I think is currently still in production, and available in K-mount. I have one of these, and it is a surprisingly good lens. It needs to be stopped well down for best results. The only problem with the Russian lens is that it has a terrible bespoke lens cap (a weird shape to fit an asymmetrical vestigial lens hood that is permanently attached to the lens). The lens cap wants to pop off all the time.

I shot a roll of Cinestil 50 120 in a Mamiya 645, and had it processed in the native (ECN?) chemicals. The results were extremely nice. Great color, not over-contrasty, clean grain.

My K5iis is a great camera in many ways. I would not consider it outdated.

I bought a focusing screen for my Pentax K5iis from focusingscreens.com and I am very happy with it for use with manual focus lenses.

I like my ME Super very much. It is an unusually small and solid camera, handles well and has a bright viewfinder. The only thing I don't like about it is the push-button manual shutter adjustment, but it does work. I often shoot mine in aperture priority, so let the camera adjust the shutter speed. The other minor fault is that the shutter and mirror action on this camera is quite loud and powerful compared to some other cameras, so it may be a little harder to hold steady at slow shutter speeds. In spite of these two issues this remains one of my favorite cameras.

I use a K5iis, and it's great. I also shoot a lot of film and use a lot of Pentax manual-only lenses. One reason to consider the K1 is the obvious one that your wide angle lenses will crop wider, and that's a significant advantage. A lot of the older wide angles struggle to produce really nice images on digital sensors, so the wider crop can offer more options. In fact, I am getting my best results by using Mamiya M645 lenses on my Pentax cameras; these medium format lenses produce great results on the K511s and on my FF film cameras, but the widest available M645 focal length is only 35mm, so the crop sensor is quite limiting.

My best Mamiya 645 lenses are the 55mm/2.8 and the 80mm/4 macro. These are both superb. The Macro is unusually good at infinity as well as close up; I believe it has a floating element. These are all great on the Mamiya, as well as with 135 film, and on my Pentax K5iis as well. I also have the Mamiya 645 45mm, the 150mm, and an 80mm/2.8. The 45 is a bit soft at the edges on the Mamiya 645, less so on the K1000 obviously, and even less with the APSc sensor. I haven't used the other two lenses enough to state an opinion.

Here's a shot I made with a K1000 and a Mamiya-645 55mm/2.8 lens on a Fotodiox adapter. This was home-scanned Fuji Pro 400H.
