I have not posted for a while due to spending time with a Fuji mirrorless set-up, but took the K3 and tamron 70-200 f2.8 off to Brands Hatch for some great historic racing, and the K3 still performs wonderfully in this environment.. :) Peugoet 908 by jon bawden, on Flickr At the wheel... by jon bawden, on Flickr Lola T70 by jon bawden, on Flickr Sticky.. by jon bawden, on Flickr Lotus 81 by jon bawden, on Flickr Carbs.. by jon bawden, on Flickr Dodge Challenger by jon bawden, on Flickr Vintage GT's.. by jon bawden, on Flickr Going for the pass... by jon bawden, on Flickr Cobra and Porsche battle by jon bawden, on Flickr

Shots 1 and 2 were taken wide open and the others at either f2.8 or f4
Certainly the shots I have had at f8 seem sharp across the image, I need to try some landscape at f11 or f16 to see how it copes , but for the price it's a bargain...

i just picked up one of the lenses offered for fuji-x fitment from the chinese company '7artisans'. This is a 25mm f1.8 manual focus lens and in the UK its available for
around £55.
First impressions are good, its nice and sharp in the centre but does have some fall-off towards the edges - being a 25mm its nice and wide (great for street work) but also it has a nice close focus capability as well. Here is a selection of shots so far.. recently picked up a secondhand X-E1 to use with my collection of SMC-K/SMC-M primes, and also some m42 lenses that i have collected - main reason was to have something smaller than always taking my Pentax K3 out and about...
the first outing with the X-E1 was the Goodwood 'Revival' event this weekend - really pleased with how the Fuji performed, most of these were shot with either a SMC-K 28mm f3.5 or with a Cosinon 55mm f1.4.
C&C welcome as always... Living where we do in East Anglia we are surrounded by so many reminders of the American effort in WW2 with the remains of many of the bomber bases still visible (just 8 miles from my house is whats left of Little Walden airfield which was a B17 base, the control tower and runways/perimiter tracks are still there).
Certainly in this region we understand the price paid in American lives, and will never forget...

Around 30 minutes from where I live is the Madingley American Cemetery and Memorial. This was inaugurated in 1956 and contains the headstones of 3,809 servicemen who died during WW2, mainly airman of the USAAF and sailors from the North Atlantic convoys. There is also the memorial wall which contains the names of 5,127 servicemen who were missing...
I often go there to just sit and reflect on the enormous sacrifice paid by ordinary people to give us a free Europe. I think that the words from the the Pink Floyd song 'the gunners dream' are very apt when looking at all the names of the fallen..
"Floating down through the clouds
Memories come rushing up to meet me now.
In the space between the heavens
and in the corner of some foreign field
I had a dream" Madingley (long exposure) by jon bawden, on Flickr Wall of the missing.. by jon bawden, on Flickr Brothers in arms.. by jon bawden, on Flickr Chapel ceiling. by jon bawden, on Flickr Brothers in arms.. by jon bawden, on Flickr Madingley Chapel by jon bawden, on Flickr A field of heroes.. by jon bawden, on Flickr Flag.. by jon bawden, on Flickr
