I'd be OK with a price between $2300-2800. I have a couple of Voigtlaenders I bought on clearance from Adorama that I'd love to try on 24x36mm.
Throw in a couple of Samyang primes and the FA Limited trio - I'll be set. Don't need anything more than that!
As a point of clarification, I'm expecting a mag-alloy chassis, weather sealing and a large exceedingly bright optical viewfinder for that price range.

One of the silliest posts I've ever read on these forums. There is *one* dSLR currently on the market that meets your personal requirement. Go ahead and buy your D800(E) and get it over with.

FWIW a user on dpreview's forums that has been pretty spot on in the past says the K-1 as reported is inaccurate.

If this is true, I'll stock up on K-mount glass (FA Limiteds, Samyang and NOS Zeiss primes in particular) and wait it out.
If not, that rumored Nikon D600 sounds pretty awesome. :(

No auto-scene modes on the dial? This seems much more like a mid-range SLR to me...
The speculation that the K-01 (or possibly a newer, less advanced dSLR) is the entry level part of Pentax's lineup seems more and more likely.

Nikonrumors has a new update up about the D600.
If true, I'd seriously consider switching over in about a year or so. Pair a $1500-$1700 D600 with the 28mm f/1.8, 50mm f/1.8 and the 85mm f/1.8 and you've got a pretty nice setup.
I've currently been using a K200D with the 15mm and 40mm Limiteds along with the 58mm Voigtlander - but I've been wanting more resolution, a better AF system and a large, bright, gorgeous VF that a 24x36mm format camera can provide.

I imagine the K-5 successor would include tethering and improved video controls.
I'd like Pentax to make the *best* APS-C camera money can buy - especially if FF is off the table.

For everyone talking about the X Pro 1: it costs $1700!!
If this new Pentax is coming in around the K-r's kit price, it'll be nearly $1000 cheaper!

Good bang for your buck. In other words, you get a lot of camera for your money.
Anyone else hopeful about the price of this thing?

Has anyone even talked about price? Is it too much to ask for around ~$500 for body only? Haha, I seriously doubt it though.

Err, really? I'm not so sure about this. Can you explain how the magnification factor impacts sharpness?

If Pentax releases a follow-up to the K-5 with the Sony 24 MP sensor, I'm buying a K-5 as fast as I can...

We almost hit that price point with the Sony A850...
I'd still like to find a used A850, but they seem to be rarer than unobtanium.

I was/am tempted by the NEX-7 and the CZ 24mm combo, but I might just buy a K-5 and some FA/DA Limiteds instead.
The initial high-ISO for the A77 looks *horrible.*

Samyang/Rokinon are apparently working on a tilt-shift lens as well.
All we need is a 50mm f/1.2 and they'd have a pretty nice FF manual focus line-up. I'm seriously considering their entire line, along with the 8mm Fisheye for video stuff on my next Pentax dSLR. That I can throw them on my Super Program is just icing on the cake.

I think my perfect set-up for digital would be:
DA15 Limited
DA35 Limited
DA70 Limited
I'd go with the 31mm, 58mm Voigtländer and 77mm if I was using my Super Program.

Judging by the other sensor and mount modules, I'd expect a GXR K-mount to come in around $1100 total cost. It's not too much more to a K-5 at those prices. At the same time, the GXR is significantly *smaller*.

The funny part about that picture is that it took me *ages* to actually see the Ricoh sign.

That just looks silly. I honestly think M-mount lenses are a better fit for a vast majority of the mirrorless cameras.

I'm going to be pretty ticked if they discontinue the FA Limited line without suitable replacements (i.e. DFA lenses similar to what they did with the 100mm Macro.)
The Limited lenses are pretty much the only thing keeping me with Pentax right now.

That might drive the cost up? And with the possibility of data corruption, it's nice to have the option of removable media .
