If you use one focus point and know how to point, anticipate and press the shutter at the right moment, you'll get pin sharp shots with a K5 or any other Pentax DSLR.
One reason I don't want a camera system that does al the work, is the reward you get when YOU made a perfect shot and not the camera....

Exactly how I feel about this advert...
It even made me long for "the old days", although I'm not that old...
Modern is not always better. Today's world is....superficial......to say the least.

Carefully put a drop of isopropyl alcohol where hood and barrel meet. Make sure the drop does a 360. Then try again.
When turning with both hands you slightly de-form the hood. Try to put the lens upside down on a grippy sheet of rubber or a rubber mouse pad (hood down) then twist the barrel while putting pressure downwards, forcing the hood into the rubber sheet.

You can do without the license, however it might occur you're about to take a once in a lifetime photo, but you can't until the commercial on your screen has ended...:D
On a serious note, software development is really expensive. I'm fine with paying for additional features that didn't exist when I bought the camera. You know at front what you get, additional features are a bonus. You don't have to buy the license...

I have the same Mestos L-bracket and decided to change the 'door' of the battery adapter rather than the bracket. Took me 2 minutes. As Pentax grips have two battery adapters (lion and AA size) you can always restore the original look, although you barely notice the missing edge. (Doors are identical and can be swapped) The weather sealing is not affected.

3x XR-SP20 and 1x XR-P Multi Program. I plan to keep the XR-P and sell the XR-SP20's once I've replaced the seals and checked the shutter speeds.
I bought that many just for spares. They were all considered non-functioning. Turned out that, after some work, all camera's are ok...

Update....just finished relocating 2 shifted mirrors successfully...I'll monitor whether they will be returning to their shifted position again.
Would that be the case then I'll carefully drop a tiny bit of epoxy glue on the edges at the front.
Again thanks for your help!!
Edit: I fixed 3...
Edit 2: I fixed 4 ;)

I've seen that ridge and the mirror is indeed hitting it. I thought I've seen a damper, not sure now.
I'm enjoying covid so I'm not very eager to work on the camera right now. But as said, I'll keep you posted on my progression..!!

With what lens did you swap it? Perhaps the batteries had become too cold to deliver enough power for the 300mm?

Depending on how you import them? World time is the only setting I can think of that could cause this behaviour...

I moved from K10d to K3, KP, K1...Started shooting soccer games with the K10d. K3 was quite an improvement. KP and K1 even more so. Autofocus during soccer games is absolutely no issue with the K1. It's more important to know where the ball could go...

I tested with a low power repeater with directional antenna and small external battery close to the K1 and could easily cover 75 meters. I didn't need to go any further but i'm sure it is possible.

What is your focus area? Start with center point focus only and check the results. My settings are the same and I don't experience the problems you describe....

I think it is a fair question; I've been asking myself this question as well. I enjoy the camera that much, I want to get the most out of it's life and keep it away from unnecessary wear and tear.
That doesn't mean I'm afraid to use it......

Amazing image! Need to visit this place. Thanks for your write up. I'm also solely depending on open source software. Piwigo, nice piece of software that hardly anybody knows...Have been using it for 10 years now.
Darktable needs no introduction, at least not to me!
