Original photograph is RAW. Taken with Pentax K-1 II and Pentax D-FA 21 mm f2.4 Ed LTD DC WR, just about the about the best lens I have ever owned. Taken through heliopan Circular Polarizer ES 67 to cut haze and brighten the image up. Exposure was 1/500 at f9, ISO 1250. This camera and lens combination are such a joy to make photographs with. I can shoot at relatively higher ISO speeds in RAW and not worry about losing any sharpness.

Taken at Sky Harbor in Phoenix, AZ 1/800, f11, ISO 200 with an HD Pentax-D FA 28-105mm WR set at 105mm. I could not be happier with my newest Pentax and am looking forward to many years of photography with it.

I believe that film will always have a place in the photographic world, albeit a very small one. Recently, I got out of my Pentax SF-10 which has been dormant for several decades. I purchased a fresh battery and found the camera was still fully operable. Then, I purchased some rolls of Ilford HP 5+ and have taken several rolls of photos. I really like the look of an image taken with that film, and I have enjoyed the enforced slower pace of making images with film. However, film will never, for me, replace the convenience and versatility of digital. It will be a pleasant adjunct to my photographic endeavors. I love Pentax cameras, and lenses, and I wish them all the luck in the world with producing a new film camera.

No. 7 for me also. It was a hard choice as they were all very good.

This is a frightfully bad policy. It is an invitation to buy products offered by competitors. For instance, I have the Tamron SP Di 90mm f2.8 Macro lens, and I love it. My next lens will probably come from Tamron also.

The image was processed using Lightroom 3.6. It was taken in the early autumn just north of Skowhegan, Maine at a little visited lake. The lens ws set at 53mm.

I have some 20+ year old Pentax lenses (from a Pentax film SLR) that work fine with my K-7. I fully expect that in a year or so, no more K-7 in favor of something newer. I'll keep shooting and not feel abandoned at all. I have spent some decent money on new Pnetax lenses, and I have some confidence they will still fit whatever new Pentax is for sale years from now.

That is my experience. I used my K-20D for about a year and a half before purchasing a K-7, and I notice the same thing. I am sorry you have had malfunctions with Pentax purchases. I have been lucky and never had any of those issues. I am glad to see another Pentaxian here in Augusta, Maine.

Try it without the grip. You have an intermittent contact somewhere, and the contacts are the most likely problem. Make sure all of them are clean, even if it is new. BTW, it is a stunning lens. I love mine.

Why AZ Photo? Well, I live here in Maine most of the year and in Arizona as much as I can. I used to be heavily involved with photography in the 60's thru the 80's, but after that I was confining myself to work and snapshots. I recently purchased a K20D and reinvigorated my interests, which are largely outdoor photography, as I live in two really photogenic states. I have some galleries at mattdyer's photos- powered by SmugMug. I am learning a lot browsing the Pentax Forum.
