Pentax 77mm f/1.8 (black) Asking Price
$675 (firm) Item Location
USA (NC) Item Description
I am probably going to regret selling this, but I mainly use it for special outdoor portrait sessions with my kids and so I don’t feel that is enough to justify keeping it. This copy is razor sharp, and I do mean RAZOR sharp, on my k100d Super, and it have kept it in impeccable condition, only removing it from the leather pouch when using it. I do have some shots taken with this lens in the PPG, just look me up and you’ll find them. Selling for $675 (US) firm + $10 shipping. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing Item for Sale
Vivitar 24mm f/2 Manual Focus Lens Asking Price
$100 Item Location
USA (NC) Item Description
I bought this FF manual focus lens to explore the 24mm fixed focal length with fast aperture since I’d always wanted a fast 35mm equivalent on digital. I was hesitant to invest in the FA* 24mm f/2 straight away since I wasn’t sure if I’d use the focal length a lot. My thinking was that if I liked it, I would sell it and buy the FA* 24mm. As it turns out, I rarely used this lens. The nice thing about this lens is that it is VERY small, only ~2” in length – so if you’re looking for a poor man’s Limited, at this price, it’s worth the risk. On my k100d Super, at f/2 it renders softly, with a bit of a milky sheen, but it starts to sharpen up by 2.8, and by f/4 it’s fine. If you intend to convert most of your images to B&W, I found the f/2 rendering actually quite pleasing. It’s very hard to find a 24mm f/2 at a decent price, so I suspect this will go quickly. Includes both lens caps. Selling for $100 US + $10 shipping. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 XR Di-II LD Aspherical [IF] Autofocus Asking Price
$350 Item Location
USA (NC) Item Description
This dSLR only AF lens is in impeccable, like new condition. This copy is razor sharp, does not zoom creep, and it focuses properly and does not backfocus on my k100d Super. I bought it thinking that I would use it for low light purposes. Turns out I am rarely using it and favor my 31mm. Includes both lens caps and hood. Selling for $350 US + $10 shipping.
UPDATED: 6/20 - I added a shot at 17 and 50 as per requests. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

I just bought the 17-50. Exposure is a bit quirky. It's spot on without flash, underexposes by 2/3 of a stop at 17 with flash, gradually underexposing up to 1-1.5 stops with flash when at 50mm. Other that than, I like it quite a lot. It's plenty sharp and has good contrast. AF speed is average I would say. In short, it's a compromise lens but well priced. If you can get past the known flash underexposure issues (which are easy to correct with EV comp anyhow), then I think you'd like the lens.

Bump. This is a fantastic lens! And so compact for 70-200 f/2.8 equivalent! And fast AF to boot.

I read somewhere that you need to send some Sigma lenses to Sigma to have the firmware updated to work with Live View. FYI.

Would you mind posting some photos from your Sigma 17-50. I've been considering this lens. Thx.

I own the 31mm and use if for 75% of my shots. It is an exceptional lens with great color, micro contrast, sharpness and build. Downsides are slower AF, size (a tad large), and the fact that it's resolves to about normal on APS-C. If you're looking for something wider and equally fast, you'll have to settle for a Sigma. So it really depends on the focal length that you prefer. If you like normal, you'll love it. If you want wider, you'll be disappointed.

Sell the 21, unless you don't have wide coverage. If the 35 is DA, sell as well, unless you don't have normal coverage. If the 35 is FA, keep. Sell the 70 and buy the 77. I don't buy it that Pentax has no FF plans in the works. I'd want FF compatible glass going forward, just in case.

Same with me. k100ds is ALWAYS spot on, regardless of lens. K-7 was a nightmare.

My first K-7 FF'd so badly it was practically defective. So I returned it. My 2nd K-7 FF'd badly as well but after AF adjustment, became "tolerable" but not "satisfactory" for the price. For that reason, and many others I discovered while using the camera, I returned the 2nd K-7 too and stuck with my k100d Super, on which all of my lenses focus perfectly, with no adjustments needed.

The more I see and hear about the ways people are using their 21mm. The more I want one.

It's what I own. I really like it. Small, capable, and great IQ (especially in low light). The AF stinks in low light however. But apart from that. Very good camera.

and have really no complaints. Yes, there's some chroma noise at 3200 that is less than desirable, but coverting those shots to B&W takes care of that. I don't even bother running the pix through any noise software. I am somewhat partial to grain and find the noise can be pleasing depending on the shot. As for ISO 400 and below, zero complaints at all.

I agree with roentarre. I often find myself drooling over certain lenses and then when I do an EXIF study of my most frequently used focal lengths, I find that I use my 31 about 50% of the time and my 50 and 77 about 20% each and the remaing 10% scattered across various other lengths using my 18-250, with them mostly concentrated in the 50-135 range. I have seriously considered swapping my 50 and 77 for the 50-135 on numerous occasions, but have yet to do so. I think I like the metal primes too much. So if I were to do it all over again, I'd keep what I have - it's worked well for me for a year now: 31, 50, 77, and 18-250.

I've printed 16x20 inch prints that I slightly sharpened that came from my k100d Super and 77mm and had no issues whatsoever. You've got plenty of pixels too worth with. 6mp is fine for brochure uses.
