Sigma 100-300mm F4 APO DG + 1.4TC ***SOLD!**** Asking Price
1300 USD Item Location
Manitoba (Canada) Item Description
Purchased new in April 2010 (I think this was the very last one sold by Adorama. They were No Stock after my purchase, and no other major US retailer had one). This is a good copy of an excellent lens, and it's the lens I've used most. A versatile 100-300mm range for nature photography, it has a constant F4 aperture, and constant lens length as you focus and zoom. This feature has kept internal dust to a minimum - there's a little bit (there always will be), but nothing that will affect image quality.
The lens is in excellent condition, with no scuffs, scrapes, or scratches on the glass or the body. All original packaging, padded case and documents are included. Even the box is in great condition.
I also have available the Sigma 1.4 EX APO teleconverter. It's not the DG version, but I suspect that makes no practical difference. I never noticed any issues with the setup. I'm not the original owner of the TC, but it's in excellent condition also, and comes with the original padded case (but no box or papers).
The TC has a Pentax rear cap and original Sigma front cap. The 100-300 includes the original front and rear caps, but I will also include a Pentax cap, because Sigma's rear caps are really annoying.
Some sample pics are included, see also Happy with a clam - Pentax User Photo Gallery . Keep in mind the effects of downsizing.
Shipping to USA: $50 Express or $30 Expedited. Cost is $10 less in Canada ($40/$20). Shipping specs: LxWxH = 40 X 25 X 25 cm. Weight 2.7kg. Shipping from postal code R0M 0C0
Shipping overseas would cost approx. $150. Are you the original owner of the item being sold?

B&H needs to update their stated pricing policy then. Currently, their policy says: "At B&H, while we abide by our MAP agreements, our lowest selling price is always what you pay." If lower prices are commonly available by phone-in vs. online ordering, then we should always call their sales desk before completing any online order. Other online buyers must wonder if they could have got a better price if they had called first.

Sigma EF-610 DG Super P-TTL flash Asking Price
180 - Now $145. Item Location
Manitoba (Canada) Item Description This is a powerful flash head with advanced options (Slave mode triggered by on-camera flash; high-speed sync allows flash sync at shutter speeds faster than 1/180 sec, as well as other modes I haven't had a chance to try). I bought this new in June to use at my daughter's wedding reception, and although it was great to have there, I'm mostly an outdoor shooter. You can find more about it here: /http:///www.sigmaphoto.com/shop/ef610-dg-super-sigma
This flash has had very little use, and all original items are included - flash, instruction manual, stand, pouch, and warranty documents.

DA 40mm Ltd; DFA 100mm WR macro, 8mm Fisheye Asking Price
Was $210 - make it $185 Item Location
The Prairies (Canada) Item Description
Time to lighten my pack. These are 3 lenses that are great when I use them, but I don't use them enough. They spend too much time safely tucked away in the spare Lowepro.
The Da40mm Limited is amazingly sharp with beautiful colour; the DFA 100mm lives up to its reputation (sharp!); and the Rokinon 8mm fisheye is a fun lens - manual focus, but just set it at f8 and 2', and it's all sharp.
I am the original owner, and like each lens, all original packaging is in like new condition. . I'll cover Paypal. Pentax DA 40mm $300 SOLD (almost twice) - thank you Dave! Pentax DFA 100 WR $610 SOLD (new in May 2012, still has warranty) Thank you Jeff! Rokinon 8mm $210 - now $185 (new in April 2012) SOLD Thank you Dustin!

Pentax K10D with DA 18-55mm AL II Asking Price
$295.00, I will cover Paypal. Item Location
Manitoba (Canada) Item Description
This is a mint condition Pentax K10D with a very lightly used DA 18-55mm AL II lens. I have been using this camera as a backup for my K-5, and I have to admit - the K10D holds up very well in comparison with the K-5! But my K-5 is now back from Pentax, and will soon become my backup for the K-5IIs.
Shutter count is less than 13,500, and everything works as it should.
Included in the sale: All original packaging, D-LI50 battery and charger, neck strap, hot shoe cover, eye cup, viewfinder cap, body mount cover, USB and video cables, SD memory card with PDF version of Pentax K10D operating manual.
I always pack my stuff very carefully for shipping.

I'm sending my K-5 to Pentax this week for that reason. I had noticed some time ago ago that I just wasn't getting the sharpness I was used to, especially with my Da* 50-135mm. So, for the first time, I tested some lenses using various AF fine tuning settings, and discovered that images were much better at a setting of +10 (the maximum adjustment without hacking the firmware). It wasn't guesswork - the difference was easy to see.
2 weeks later, noticing the focus problem had come back back, I retested under pretty identical settings, and found that setting AF tuning back to zero was better. My 2-year warranty expires in November, so I will let Pentax take a look at it.
Note - my testing may not have been as precise as yours, but I did use mirror-up, remote, 1 stop down from max aperture, 3 shots at each AF adjustment, forcing the lens to refocus for each shot.

But, in the short term, it could boost sales. I bought my 12-24 for $700 when they upped their prices a few years ago, and this morning, after deciding that I am probably going to stay Pentax, hit the buy button on Prodigital's D FA 100mm WR. I see 6 other buyers have done the same since yesterday.

I have - on just a few random astro shots. Usually with the DA* 50-135, but that could be unrelated. I hadn't seen any reports of the problem anywhere, so am surprised to see it addressed in a firmware update.
(had to edit this - once I dug up the photos, I see they were with the Sigma 100-300mm lens)

Wow! K-5 and DA* 50-135 - I definitely have to get that setup!
(Hmmm, wait a minute - I do have that already...)
OK then - lighting and composition! I definitely have to study that!

The motorized drive option crossed my mind, but I do know that getting something as faint as M31 into the camera's field of view is nearly impossible using just the camera's viewfinder (with my eyes anyway). Using an aligned scope and camera setup makes it a lot easier. But I'm seeing about as much star movement at 12mm and 120 seconds as in Zorglub's 250mm shot. I've yet to try the DA 50-135, but maybe with the help of my right-angle finder I can lock in on Andromeda.

That's amazing detail - the spiral arms are visible, as well as M32 and M110. To be able to lock the stars like that - at 250mm over 90 seconds - is quite a feat.

The card slot in my K-5 seemed too tight at first too, but has got much easier with use. However, it was causing damage to my Lexar Platinum II, to the point I had to Krazy Glue it back together. This week, the camera gave up reading the Lexar after another tiny piece broke off the corner. It still works in a card reader. I'm going to split open the housing of an old 512mb card, and transplant the Lexar memory into it. The Lexar housing just seemed flimsy to begin with.

Good advice. The mirror, I discovered 2 dlsr's ago, is, as you say, very delicate. I dragged a piece of lens tissue very lightly across the mirror of my K10D, and the visible scratch it left was worse than the speck of dust I was trying to remove. If the blower doesn't get rid of the dust, learn to ignore it.

After reading your post, I decided to see if my 50-135 would have any problem with the O-GPS1 on my K-5, and it's fine (Yes!!). So there's one GPS-SDM combination that passes. I imagine you checked that the GPS was correctly (completely) mounted in the hot shoe so that full electrical contact was being made?

Well, I hope to test that out this weekend (even though the moon is a bit too bright). I received my O-GPS1 this week, and the GPS function is very accurate - dropping the co-ordinates into Google maps pinpoints to within a few feet. But the Astrotracer function is why I got it.
Note to users - the calibration routine really twists up the neckstrap ;)
