History Repeats?
"Asahi Optical's countermove came at the end of 1971 with the Spotmatic II. Expectations of an innovative model were dashed by this camera. The SP II differed from the previous model only in minor details. The pentaprism was changed in appearance and, for the first time on an Asahi Pentax, included a shoe for the flash. The sensitivity scale was extended and there were a few cosmetic changes. A series of very interesting lenses were brought out at the same time as the SP II. The elements of these lenses were treated with an exclusive multi-layer, anti-reflective coating. They were designed for metering at any exposure aperture and the name was changed from Super Takumar to Super Multi Coated Takumar."
From the book "Asahi Pentax and Pentax SLR 35mm Cameras 1951-1989" by Danilo Cecchi.
Fortunately, back then, the best was still to come from Pentax. Let's hope that history does indeed repeat itself.

My p30n has a plastic door and diagonal focus screen like the p30t. Maybe a later version of the p30n?

I've just noticed that the shot time reported by the exif data is 30 minutes behind. I've set my camera time to Adelaide (I live in Darwin) +9.5 GMT and DST is not selected, but when I take a shot, the exif reports the time 30 min behind.
Has anyone else noticed this? i've only noticed this after 2 years. :o

For the K200d:
In playback mode after you zoom, the green button doesn't zoom, rather the AV+/- button zooms in and the AE-L button zooms out.
As a reset, green button also resets white balance compensation in the white balance adjustment mode.

Thanks for your comments and critiques.
I had every intention of using a tripod and trying different lens, but when I got to this park, I realised I had a lot of area to cover through the bush, and so opted to hike with just the k200 and kit lens.
I'll be passing through this area again in December and will try to get some more shots. The area is quite remote, although on the main highway that runs from Darwin to Adelaide. I was the only person there that evening, kind of inspiring just for that reason.
Anyway, love this forum. Have been lurking awhile. Will start posting more questions and photos in the near future.

This is my first post in this critique area. Please tell me what you think.
Shot in sunset light with K200d kit lens handheld.
Location: Devil's Marbles, Northern Territory, Australia.
This is original: Attachment 30573
And this is Elements 5.0 version - cropped and level adjustments: Attachment 30574
Verdict? Just another tourist shot?

I have a couple of old manual lenses M50/2, A50/1.7 and K55/1.8. It may be a stupid question, but what is that little pearl button stuck on the side?

Hello. Great forum here.
I just bought a K200d with kit lens from JB HiFi for $650! Can't complain about that price!
Looking forward to exploring these forums some more.
