My father has a new pantax k200d and from the beginning everything was working fine, now after 2 months suddenly is having problems with battery life, but first I must say that batteries are OK( I checked the voltage and current and the charger is working fine too), when he put fully charged batteries in the camera is ok for about 50-100 shots and then suddenly the indicator shows that the batteries are depleted, he take out the batteries and in a while time put it back in and the camera indicator is showing that the batteries are again fully charged, but just for about 20 shots and then again all is over. That thing with batteries is going on for about 3 weeks and it happened for no aparent reason.
Iam asking if anyone of you anytime had the same problems with pentax camera, I will be happy of your help, thank you.
Sorry for my english It's long time since school.
Almost forgot to tell that the batteries in camera are annsmann digital 2850 mAh and GP 270mAh.
Thanks, Luka

I had the same thing with hot pixels and can tell you don't need to worry about, because if you have function in camera to map out hot pixel the do this and every thing is gonna be okay, because you will nod do eny damage to your camera if you use the finction which the camera offers.
It's like this the pentax have much more problems with termic noise than canon or nikon thats an issue, so that means it has a lot more hot pixels especially in long exposures with noise reduction turned off, but that is not the problem if you have time to wait up that the camera is doing dark frame job wich take as long as the exposure was lasted. Now I have nikon d90 and I can tell you that I didn't find a single hot pixel in 5min exposure with noise reduction off.
Before I had pentax k200d and I must say that is the best camera for the price and that I didn't had problems with hot pixel at short exposures, just at long exposure I had to wait the care to do the second shot with shutter closed, that it.
And I must say that pentax like k200d makes good cameras, better than sony, olympus, even better than canon(exept the proffessional model), the same with nikon, but it's having problems with hot pixels, for some that isn't annoying(for me isn't), but if you taking a lot of pictures on BULB, then is only problem that you must have noise reduction turned on because is so many hot pixels, that you can barely recognize the photo that you have made.
Thank you, Sorry for mistakes because mostly I don't speak english(from Slovenia)

I bought that adapter for mount kit lenses upside down for macro photos.
And Iam a little worried because that adapter is made of metal, and when I put it on bayonet it is touching that contacts which are for comunicating with lenses.
Is that normal or not.
Thanks, Luka:confused:

night exposure mettering problem

Hi, am new at this forum, and first I must tell that I don't speak english so well(slovenia) so forgive me for some english mistakes.

I have pentax k200d and would like to ask if that is normal, when I am going to take some photos at night, my exposure mettering doesn't works fine.
An example: when it's so dark that I can barely see, I set shutter at 30sec and aperture at f3,5 exposure meter shows that is overexposed for about +2,5 and I thake a photo which is underexposed a lot.
So if I set to auto exposure shutter goes maximum to 10sec, if I increase the aperture then the shutter goes up proportionally with aperture, but photo is allways underexposed, but that is going on just at night.
When is daylight is everything ok.
So if anyone can tell me??? Is this just limittation of exposure meter or is somethin wrong with my camera, because one day when I was changing the batteries I forgot too turn off my camera and I have closed the battery cap when the camera was on. If maybe that cause some damage to my camera?
Thanks for the answers.
