Bertwert used to be a regular contributor to the forum, but I don't remember seeing anything from him for a while. Does anybody have any information about him?

This is a brilliant shot, showed my wife and she is blown away. May I make a copy to send to my ex kiwi sister-in-law in Canada? For private use only and your watermark wont be removed

I can totally relate to this, I've had 2 of them. I told my wife that she could no longer accuse me of being full of sh*t. I love your description, so accurate

I work on an apple orchard in Hawkes Bay, we're regarded as essential because it's food production, so we are still working. We are about half way through the harvest and there are 80+ people there most days, 6 days a week. This lock down may not affect us much (except bottle stores aren't considered essential - no spirits will be available)

I hope this is the correct category to post in. I have been entering the Guru Shots challenges for quite a while and usually reach the Elite or All Star levels, but haven't quite got past that. But, finally I have a Guru's Pick. Please excuse my boasting, this has given my a huge boost and encouragement to keep shooting.
It was taken with a FujiFilm FinePix S1000fd bridge camera.

In New Zealand the house sparrow is an introduced species and is far from endangered, they are everywhere. As a former grapegrower we would be quite happy to have as many as possible taken back to where they came from. We call them flying mice.

I hope the funeral went well and wasn't too difficult.
May I ask what your daughter is studying? Thailand seems an unusual place for a New Zealander to study in.

Ross, I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. I hope that you can get answers from the coroner that help you.

Thanks for all the comments.
Mark, if you haven't been past this year you wont recognise the road. The council are putting in a new road right next to our house, it will go through to Pakowhai Road, and there is a very large roundabout being created outside our driveway.
Pixelsaurus, I've never used any other DSLR than the K-500, but compared to the film cameras (all Pentax) I've used in the past I'll never go back to film. The things that I'm finding that can be done with digital are amazing. I've read reviews and comparisons of the Pentax range and I see that the K-500 lacks a lot of features of other Pentax models, but because I've never used them, I don't miss them.

Thank you very much everybody for the prompt and detailed replies. I had sort of hoped that there would be a problem with the screen (joke !!!) so that my desire for the K-1 would be lessened, but not so, it has increased. At around $3,500NZ, unfortunately getting one with have to wait awhile.

Now that the K-1 is over a year old, on PF we have had many, many posts extolling the virtues of the K-1. Everybody seems to be very happy with it (I'm very jealous). But, I don't think I have seen anybody post about the tiltable LCD screen. I would like feedback from K-1 users on how well it does, or doesn't work - do you use it often, or is more a novelty. Thanks very much.

Yeah, the closest water is a stream about a kilometer away. They don't seem to travel that far and they nest in a shelter belt between us and the orchard next door.
If you want some I'm sure that there are a lot of people around here who would be happy to donate as many as you will take
