There's also this peculiar thing going on with the viewfinder. Looks like broken glass/a coating that's coming off maybe? It doesn't affect what's viewed. No idea what it's about either. I'll tape over it for the time being, but I'm just trying to refurbish it as much as I can. Give her some tlc you know? ---------- Post added 12-30-16 at 05:23 PM ----------
I've heard of this Eric fellow, but haven't had the pleasure of making his acquaintance.

So I just purchased this KX (with a 50M/1.4 leather carrying messenger box with original papers) and noticed the aperture-reader window was completely exposed... No idea what to do about this, or if it will inhibit functionality. Help?
Thanks!

So I just got a Sigma 28mm f/2.8 and went out into my front yard to check it out when in the process I noticed that there were some specks in the viewfinder. I figure this is from the black foam lining that's deteriorating in the internal part of the camera. I've tried using a cloth lightly on it with very simple lens cleaner/alcohol as well as qtips. I thought I had gotten it all off, but I still see two light smudges in the viewfinder, and can't coax them out. Any ideas? Am I going to have to take this to a pro to get it cleaned properly? Perhaps I'm being ocd? I was going to take it to get it checked out throroughly anyways after the original purchase of it, but I'm refurbishing most of what I can myself. I appreciate any help.
Thanks for reading.

In the image below the two specks are in the top middle of the internal viewfinder. I tried to get them in focus and visible as best as I could.

So the guy is reliable? I just wanted to replace it completely. I'm keen on DIY. It doesn't seem so terribly difficult to do it. ---------- Post added 06-09-15 at 03:26 PM ----------
It came with a smc Pentax 50m 1:1.7 and a Tokina SZ-X 80-200mm. Most shots I've taken are on a macro scale (small) as well as the scenic side and I've been looking into 17/28/35mm lenses, but I'm wondering if there's something better suited?

The plastic grip is starting to come off around the edges and I was looking into a link provided on someone else's thread (CameraLeather.com Custom camera leather and leatherette) but it doesn't seem to work. Would you, or anyone reading this for that matter, know of a source or some form or fashion that I could restore/replace this?

Alright, so I just received my Pentax ME Super in the mail today. First look over it seems to be superficially fine. I have read through the pdf of the manual and am acquainted with the setup to an extent, but I'm wondering about basic care as far as cleaning and what products to use as well what to look for to check this over as thoroughly as possible. *This is my first slr camera, so I'm just wanting to make sure I have it fully functioning and that I won't screw anything up! Thanks!

So I'm not new to making pictures, but an acquaintance of mine mentioned looking into the canon ae-1 whereby I came upon the pentax k1000 and the pentax me super, and I am fairly decided on the me super between the lot. Now there is a thread on ebay I'm hesitant about purchasing (disregarding the fact that it's ebay and I can't check it out personally prior to buying) that comes with two lenses (a Pentax -m 1:1.7 and a Tokina SZ-X 80-200mm) and the pricing seems fair enough to me (around 70 after s&h) and I just wanted some opinions and/or insight as to what I am considering.
Much appreciation.
