Thanks again for all the advice
Picked up the 100mm today & managed to get the price down to roughly 300 US since it's the D FA version without WR.
Seems like lots of fun & think this lens will find it's purpose.
Have a good 1 !

Thanks guys !
Really appreciate your advice.
Well I'm using Canon mainly for film (+ full frame) and the K-5 for stills. Ive grown very attached to Pentax (as I can imagine many of you have aswell) and the limited lenses and wouldn't dream of switching completely.
Think I'll take my chances & go with the 100mm cause already have 40mm & 50mm lenses but nothing around 100mm.
Once again, big thanks !

Found both of these new for a very reasonable price
Tried the 100mm out in the shop but found its focus was pretty slow. Maybe manual is the way to go with Macro?
I'm building up both a Canon and Pentax system & I'm wondering if I should go for a Macro for Canon or Pentax? Which do you think would get the most satisfying results?
For those of you who have these Pentax lenses, would you recommend the 50mm or 100mm (mainly want to do portraits and the occassional detail shot)? Are you happy with the lens?
Thanks in advance,
Enjoy your day

I was out shooting today and when I reached back to the office I heard a "donk" and half of my lens had hit the floor.
It had behaved a little weird during the day, not focusing correctly and getting stuck while trying to find focus. Ive taken good care of the lens as with all my equipment, however I use the camera and especially this lens alot.
It was purchased roughly a year and a half ago so I'm not sure if the warranty still is valid.
What can I do? Any advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hello !
I recently upgraded from the K200D to the K-7. So far Ive had lots of fun with the K-7 but one thing I miss is the focus point setting on the K200D. Is there a way to set focus points on the K-7 without pressing the OK button first?
Also I havent quite figured out how to lock focus on the K-7 yet...
This information is probably readily available in the manual but I'd rather talk to you guys :)
I was slightly dissapointed with the ISO-noise levels aswell. Anything above an ISO of 800 looks pretty horrible when shooting raw.

Thanks for all the help guys !
Just reached home with a brand new K-7 and the 40/2.8. I prefer the grip on my old K200D but still the K-7 seems like a fantastic camera.
This is like a new beginning for me : )
One last question, does anyone know a good place online were you can purchase filters for Pentax lenses ?

That was a great review. This will probably work out good then...
Ive read Scott Kelby's first 2 books but my impression was that he was a bit of a dickhead.

Okidoki, this is pretty much settled
I'll go with the DA40 !
I think we more or less mean the same things but I'm not as of yet so experienced with different terms and expressions in the photographic world. For me a fish eye is much more extreme than a wide angle & therefore I thought of the 2 as separate things.
Thanks for helping me out !

Thanks for all your replies !
A low-light lens was mainly meant for concert shooting and darker indoor conditions.
A wide-angle would be great cause in many situations Ive wished I had one.
I photograph just about anything I see that's interesting enough...
Already got a tripod and the other kit-lens which covers 50-200
The DA 10-17 sounds very interesting ! How can it be both a fish-eye and a Wide angle? Sigma's lenses seems like a good alternative too...
I can only afford one lens for now though... What was your first lens & were you satisfied with it?

Up until now I've just used the kit-lenses which has worked pretty well.
I got an offer for a brand new DA 40mm 2,8 for 250 US but I'm not sure that this is what I need.
A wide angle lens, a lens around 1-2,5 f and something to shoot with in low-light conditions is what Ive been missing the most so far.
What should I go with? Every lens seems to have their specific ups & downs, its like a jungle...
Thanks

Hi there!
I got an offer for two fairly cheap Sigma lenses from the 80's (probably) & I need some advice
The first is: Sigma 8mm/4 Fisheye circular image
And the second: Sigma 24/2,8 super wide
Are these worthwhile?
Thanks in advance

Hi there
Im wondering what color settings you usally use while shooting with the K200D (sharpness, contrast etc...)
Ive tried a few but I'd like more life and sharpness in my photos. Many have a "cold" and stiff look.
Thanks
