I've had the opposite experience. I had all but given up using my K 50mm 1.4, but I find the peaking allows me to nail every shot. I think it definitely works best with longer (>35mm) FLs and shallower dof - on a wide angle stopped down it becomes a sea of bright spots, which doesn't help anyone! I've got my green button set to focus peak on/off so I can quickly switch and take advantage of quick shift if I suddenly want to change my point of focus.

Excellent! Thank's very much. (This also made me revisit a cheap Vivitar 2x converter that I had assumed was defective because the green button didn't work. Et viola, same issue! The plastic mount made it behave in the same way, constantly metering.)

PS Another interesting side-effect is that focus peaking covers the dof for the selected aperture, not wide open!

This sounds like an excellent "feature" as I would rather use the Green Button for something else. Would it be possible for you to explain how to do this please - where exactly do you put the tape?
Thanks

Thanks for that! I wasn't aware that new firmware was out and with all the negative talk about the K-01 being dropped had wondered if this would ever be addressed.

Thanks for confirming (and for the workaround!) Sounds like a bug in the firmware to me as I can't think of any logical reason for this behaviour. Need to find out how to log this with Pentax...

I have noticed that when I first use the OK button to zoom the screen for focussing in manual mode, it rather bizzarely uses the top left of the frame rather than the middle. It only does this with manual lenses - if I attach an AF lens and use manual focus, then the initial setting for the zoom is the middle. Can anyone confirm this behaviour on their camera please? It's rather irratating as it takes a few seconds of wondering why you're not seeing a close-up of what you are focussed on and then using the green button to reset the area. One of the joys of the K-01 is using quality primes again with Focus Peaking, so it's a shame if there is a bug in the firmware here!

Hi everyone! I'm from Surrey in England and have taken up photography again - in my youth I was a pround Olympus OM10 owner, now it's a K10D with 16-45 f4DA, 35-105 f4-5.6 FA and 100-300 f4.7-5.8 FA (and a 50 A 1.7 coming from ebay - paid too much, but life's short!) Will be hitting SRS for a flash when the finances agree!!
